Want to buy a Z4, couple questions.

Hello guys!

I am looking to buy used Z4 30i. I found 2009 one with 30k kilometers on it, last service 1k km ago, top options and all that. The car itself is in pristine condition from what I saw it's just that the price is bugging me. The dealer is asking for 27,000 Euros for that car. Would this be considered a normal price for a car this old?

Do you really want us to guess how much those cars go for in Latvia? This is not Latvia national e89 forum.

I don't know about prices in Latvia. But where I live (Slovenia) the car you described would normally be priced at around 25.000 EUR. So the price is normal-ISH.

Seems quite high for a 2009, I would do a bit more research, you should be able to find a 35i for around that price point

I was looking at 35i model as well, they go like 2-3k higher than 30i, but I heard that DCT transmission can be unreliable, how true is that?

Anyways, I am going to buy the car in Germany, sorry for not mentioning it pals

Sorry DriverLatvia, but talhagursoy's comment has nothing to do with "muricans" or stereotypes. How could you possibly expect a forum that is frequented 95% by American Z4 owners to be remotely familiar with Latvian car market conditions or government tax policy? That's asking a helluva lot!

With all due respect. The question by OP is not fair. Not only is it hard to assess fair market value for your specific region, let alone our own. Prices in the US can vary from state to state, and also vary dramatically during different seasons. I personally am a big fan of buying convertible cars during Winter months. You can seriously negotiate a great deal. Everyone wants a convertible when the weather gets nice. For example, I purchased a 2006 Porsche Boxster in January of 2014 (in NJ) from a dealer, drove the car for 17 months and sold it privately in May of 2016 for a $1500 profit.

With that said, OP, if the car you have found meets all your requirements and mechanically and cosmetically checks out, then by all means you should acquire it. Enjoy it and not look back until it is time to sell it.

My mother always said "if you have nothing nice to say", then keep your mouth shut.

There are no stupid questions for first time buyers...

Just stupid answers by those that think they are smarter and funnier...

I believe your answer is one of "Just stupid answers by those that think they are smarter and funnier." I agree with talhagursoy's statement here. Do your research and come here to ask for help. Otherwise this forum will be unusable as European forums. Also, how the heck all you guys can discuss about the market that you have no idea. Instead of giving wrong information to this newb, I would prefer to be an asshole and ask him to do his research.

Hello,

I don't know if you know Auto Uncle? They compare offers from different sources and rate the offer. As example a car offered with your figueres in germany they say that price is about € 1.350,- too high. Perhaps it is helpful for you.

Sorry but I only have the german version available.

... and you might consider that BMW Germany maintains the highest prices for new cars within the EU so that prices for used cars are supposed to be higher here than in other Member States as well (which is legal according to the EU block exemption regulation on motor vehicles, unfortunately)...

Oh, I have just found a 9 y old chart that indeed confirms that prices in Poland, Slowenia and Slovakia are amongst the highest in the EU, much higher than in Germany. Do they impose an additional luxury tax on cars overthere?

Obviously, prices within the EU are still not comparable. Within the EU, Denmark Sweden and Romania appear to have better prices for new BMWs - so maybe better look there for a bargain if looking outside Latvia is an option for TO.

Luxury tax for engines bigger than 2500cc and taxes for CO2 emissions. For Slovenia.
