European Delivery

I'm getting ready to place my Z4 order and was hoping to do a European Delivery. I was talking with one of our local BMW dealers regarding ED. Seemed to be some confictor possible old info that BMW has on their web site. Any one have experience with the following;

1. Is scheduling pickup/delivery appointment at the Welt on Saturday possible. Dealer says no, BMW website indicates yes.
2. The dealer indicated that the 2 for1 Luftansa ticket deal was still in place but when I go to the site directed by BMW ED page it goes to a dead end, directing meinstead to the Luftansa home page. However, the hot link to the "Exclusive offers for BMW customers" is not live on the Luftansa page. zI am curious about this program. Do you make reservations, pay and then get reimbursed or a airfare credit?

Yes, Sat pickup is definitely possible, I am picking up my Z4 at the Welt on Sat May 29.

The Lufthansa 2 for 1 program typically gets extended for the upcoming year sometime in January. There is no reason to think they won't continue with the program, just keep checking. The 2 for 1 deal is not always the least expensive option, check fares on other airlines to compare.

We took delivery of our Z4 at the Welt last August. Saturday delivery was available at that time. The Lufthansa "deal," if still available, was not the best price. The 2 for 1 on Lufthansa was priced at $2,150 and 2 tickets through KLM was $1,900. Search your options.

Thanks for all the input. I totally forgot about Bimmerfest source. I'm new to the BMW car side of the house as I been living on the 2 wheel side for 30+ years. Still learning the ins & outs of the car/dealer side.

I am picking up my Z4 in Munich on Jan. 29. I see you are in CA but if you want a real adventure do an ED followed by a PCD in SC and then drive your car back to CA. Send me a PM if I can help.

I called BMW ED delivery (800 932-0831) today and confirmed that Sat delivery is available at the Welt. No factory tours on Sat though. I also asked about the Luftansa 2:1 travel airfare deal. It is currently being renegotiated between BMW/Luftansa. They expect to have 2010 details out in a couple of weeks - end of Jan. Indicated it may differ from current offering. Also called Luftansa the current offering has been extended to cover through the end of Mar for anyone doing a delivery before then. Since we're going over in early May, I'll check the other carriers and see wht the new deal is when BMW/Luftansa release details.

Not likely that the Lufthansa 2 for 1 deal, if extended, will be the best price. Fares will probably be higher in May than now but I was able to get a RT from IAD for less than $700.
