Few runs and a shoot

couple friends and i did few runs in an undisclosed track

2011 Sti Sedan - manual
2009 BMW 335xi coupe - auto
2011 Z4 35is (me)

STi vs Z4: (0 - (speed limit) mph)

Run 1: Sti driver chokes on the start, Z4 is bus lengths away
Run 2: Z4 pulls from the start to about 3 CL's by (speed limit)

335 vs Z4:

Run 1: Z late start, 335 gets a hood jump - reeling him in very quickly, by (speed limit) mph about 2 CL lead for the Z4

335 vs Z4:

Run 1: 335 get a slight jump, sti misses 2nd gear

After the last run Sti driver burned to clutch and it was stuck to the gear, had to wait about an hour for it to cool off and let go. i was very surprised that a new rally car acted this way after few hard runs

Not sure what you were trying to describe about the STi clutch/gear sticking, but he likely boiled his clutch hydraulic fluid.

Very short runs we shut down at (speed limit), one person was watching exit/entrance

I pulled on both pretty consistently, I would be way ahead by higher speed

Yeah, he couldnt get in gear for about an hour until the clutch cooled

Did the STI do a proper launch? If it did then there is NO way a 35is would take 2-3 car lengths right at the start, especially if you didnt use launch control and if you are not even flooring it.

To activate the overboost function I think you need to click the gas pedal past the resitance point. (ie floor it).

run 2: perfect launch, and i said by (speed limit) mph it was around 3 CLs not off the start

i didnt want to get into a conversation about WRX rating faster numbers then STi, it is a very nice looking car though

Yeah the STI certainly isn't what it used to be, love the '06. Hit me up next time we'll have a 35i vs 35is (although the outcome is inevitable), still lovin' the little exhaust mod

I am as well interested at the fact that the IS was not by much quicker at acceleration and mid speed (100Km/h) than the 335 XI. The road was pretty dry (from the photos) and I do not see any advantage of the 4WD for the 335 in acceleration (in you conditions.)
Yet you are 35 hp more, 32 lb-ft in torque and 790 Lbs lighter ??? emm...
