Bentley is simply a much cooler car, and doesnt have such shabby reputation as Mercs.
Mercedes are, for many europeans, just Taxi's and for older people (the top models like the S class). My dad himself was considering the new S class, coming from a 7 series. But he bought a Bentley Continental GT V8, and its much more special and fun car to own.

I was looking at CL65s a few weeks back and wash shocked at how inexpensive they were. They can be had for less than $50k, which is a far cry from the $200k+ window sticker.

From a technical standpoint I disagree Bentley is cooler. Not that I can afford one, but if I could indeed, I would not spend mye hard earned money on an overpriced FWD luxury car such as Bentley (but that also includes all Audi S6/S7/S8 and Panamera).
