Actually, I love the 292's

Truth be known, I have "wheel envy" for anyone with fewer spokes than mine...

I'm already losing sleep thinking about how hard my wheels will be to clean (and keep clean)

Oh well...

Kudo's again Jparnes!

Thank you RoadsterGal for a reality check.

The joke has gone far enough from what started as a simple question on a particular set of wheels. It had nothing and has nothing to do with anyone's particular car.

For the record, I have yet to see a Z4 model / colour / wheel combination that fails to look great and desirable.

I have the 293 multi spoke as well. They are the most time consuming wheels that I have thus far, but I use wheel wax and it seems to cut down on the brake dust and allows for easier cleaning. I re-apply the wheel wax once every 4-5 weeks.

I also use the Daytona speed brush which gets all the way to the back of the wheel and fits in between the spokes in conjuction with the Zymol wheel brush for the face of all the spokes.

When I first got the car and after cleaning the wheels the first few times, I thought the wheels would be the death of me. I really like them so I guess it's worth it in the end.

(nice car, jparnes! Hope you're not breaking her in too gently...)

I hate cleaning my wheels, as well.

I thought the twisted spokes of the 35is wouldn't be too bad, but they have this nasty little groove (that would be the twist, I guess) that is a bugger to get clean as the dust really collects in there.

I have just slapped some Klasse all-in-one on them last weekend (rather than re-waxing) based on a tip somewhere on this site (or possibly bimmerfest)... I'll let you know how that works.

Still looking for the solution that will let me pull out the hose and spray that pesky dust away, at least for a couple of weeks... a guy can dream, can't he?

Maybe if I just quit using the brakes so much...

H-Doc: use Armorall Wheel protectant. Trust me on this....you clean your wheels thoroughly, dry them so they are spotless, spray it on, wait a few hours till dry then do another light coat, wait overnight. Then drive. I havent had to clean my wheels in months from brake dust. (helps if you dont drive in the rain of course).

It actually repels the dust. I just wish they made bigger cans to do all my cars!

Ha ha!

Guys - as an old biker... I recommend you go to your HArley Davidson or BMW MOtorrad dealer and ask about a product called S100.
I used it every week on my K1200RS.

Everything either blows off (if you go fast enough) or simply washes off with the next weekly application.
It puts a nonstick clear coat on the car - can be applied to even surfaces that get hot (such as exhausts or engines), and a small $30 bottle lasts about a year (on a bike), less on a car as you have a larger surface area.

I was on a ride once with 10 others. We hit 20km of a dusty trail, and when we stopped every other bike was caked in red dust (fine sticky stuff), and mine was almost pristine - everyone was sold on the product from that day onwards.

I'll be using it on my wheels every week to keep them clean and looking like the showroom floor.

Count Down: 4 days to go...

I have checked the S100 products @ www.s100.com/s100_cs.htm but I wasn't able to identify which specific product in their range you used. Most of them are cleaners not protectants, so perhaps you used their S100 Wheel Cleaner Gel. I wouldn't put it on painted alloy wheels though.

Hope you can provide more info.

I think P100 is same thing as P21S wax, just repackaged (google this and you will find out). P21S wax is more expensive and is a product I have used to wax my car. It is ok as a wax in terms of reflectivity and durability. Very easy to apply and remove. Not sure how well it will work vs brake dust on rims.

If you want to prevent brake dust occuring on your rims then as I said before use a very cheap product called Armorall wheel protectant from Supercheap. Do a search on the 1 series forum and you will see many recommendations.

Guys,

S100 is a cleaner, and it repels dirt residues.

http://www.s100.com/s100_tcc.htm

it comes in a variety of packs - I have always used the 500ml bottle sprayer, either sprayed direct or wiped on with a sponge if the grime is thick.
Hose it off with a medium pressure spray gun (namely a cheap Karcher set on fan spray)

The 500ml bottle used to cost about $30 and lasted a year on a bike.
Cant speak highly enough of it.
