Replacing Rft With Rft
Hi,
I have a 30k km OEM POTENZA 225/45/R17 RFT tires. At high speed, specially with the road little wet and started to feel an unpleasant instability. The advice from BMW was to replace the rear tires. So, I started looking for alternatives. I don't want to go NO-RFT but for what I read, the Bridgestone's I have are both obsolete and not very good. I'm looking for other brands like MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 3 o PRIMACY 3 ZP. Any advice? |

Hello, welcome to the forums!
I have the Continental ContiSportContact 5 SSR tires on my wife's 335 right now, and they are reasonably comfortable. I believe these are called " generation 3 runflat tires" and another example of this is the Bridgestone S001 RFT (also available from the factory on the latest generation of 3 series). Apparently Tirerack has both of those for sale in the size you are looking for If I was going to stick with run flats I would look into those rather than the ones you mentioned, which I think are indeed older generation. I would definitely AVOID the RE050A (which comes stock with the 19" E89 wheels) since they are worse than other RFT I have tried in terms of the sidewall excessively stiff to the point of causing wheel hop when accelerating on bumpy roads, and not having as much grip |

Thank you for the advice! Is interesting that the BEST SELLER on tire rack for the Z4 is a MICHELIN PRIMACY MXM4 ZP. Any ideas why?

I think I will go with Bridgestone S001 RFT which are an official recommendation on BMW SHOP. I will have to wait almost three month to get them in Argentina

It doesn't rain much in socal so I went for summer tires with maximum grip that are still usable as a daily driven tire. My understanding is that those 3 have the most grip in that category of tire. I briefly thought about daily driving Cup tires but my Z4 doesn't have enough power to make that worth it. |
