Does this look normal? (Rear differential cover)

First question: Is the rear differential cover supposed look like this, or has it hit something and bended upwards?

And second question, how about this sound/whine coming from the engine bay? Is it normal?

You need to use a flash so we can see some detail. Much too dark. And your video clip requires some kind of sign-in to be viewable/listenable.

your pic is hard to see but there is a "flap" on the cover than can be bent up. It should be level with the rest of the cover so just pull it down (if that's the piece you're asking about). If you want to change the diff oil, this cover has to be removed.

Hi, here is a pix of mine. It looks like yours is bent. Might be that someone has tried to lift the car by placing a jack in the wrong place. That happen to my e46…

Thanks a lot for that picture! I am not sure what caused it, but mine was clearly bent compared to yours.

Fortunately I was able to straighten it out with a hammer! Problem solved

Thanks for this info. Did they replace or adjust anything at that time? Or did they just ask you to live with it? Ie ignore it?
