I went from no way in hell I'm watching to I'm there. Chris will be the "straw that stirs the drink"
Well played Top Gear. This thing was left for dead as far as I was concerned.

So they will actually have a good automotive show?
I liked the Old Top gear because it was entertaining but it sort of ended there... you could never take anything they did or said objectively... even the lap times were all ran under completely different conditions... At least here you have 2 outstanding drivers in the mix, one of which is a great on screen personality and truly knows his car, the other is a race car driver that has more nurgburgring time than almost anyone. |

Whelp, I'm back on board. Harrismonkey will change the nature of the program--in my opinion--for the better. Don't get me wrong, the Clarkson trio were pioneers, and at their height, there was no better programming on TV. But TG had gotten stale, and the three had kind of run out of funny. I think they'll do well in a new format.
At the very least this iteration of TG would destroy other carjourno tv programs. |

There may yet be hope for Top Gear, but I share others' worry about what this means for his DRIVE reviews. Funny that they call Chris and Sabine "virtually unknown". Maybe outside the car world, but Chris Evans is the one who's unknown to me.

Well, here's to hoping it won't be DOA. I'll give it a 1 episode chance as I always do with new car shows.

It's great to hear the Chris Harris has been chosen, and I'm sure Sabine will be great! However, Top Gear and Fifth Gear might be way too similar based on the personalities chosen.
I'm excited to see how Clarkson, Hammond, and May do on their new Amazon show

Wow, didn't expect this to happen!
If anyone could save the show, it's definitely Chris and Sabine.

I couldn't give a crap less about Chris Evans, but I will admit I will tune in to watch both shows. To be completely honest, the "old" Top Gear was getting very redundant to me, I might be in the minority.

NOTHING has been confirmed yet. The headline should include "rumoured". It does seem likely however.
Chris Evans is a household name in the UK, and love him or loathe him, he has a talent for making good TV programmes. People bemoaning the loss of the old trio must be looking at things through rose-tinted spectacles. Top Gear was (most of the time) completely awful for the last few series and I for one am glad to see the back of them. |
