The front and rear bumper design look like something BMW did just for the sake of making a change. Whenever a car mfg does this, the result is usually bad. The front bumper design no longer flows with the rest of the car's lines. The rear bumper treatment just looks odd and unnecessary.

Although I understand the cars don't compete with each other, they are both BMW's pure sports cars, and it doesn't make sense for them to be priced exactly the same.

Also, what's with going from is to si to is? The X5 4.8is (many years ago), then came X3 3.0si, and now we're back to Z4 sDrive35is...can't they stick to something? Next you know, the 2016 7er comes out and it has 750iL (back to e38 years again). Or am I getting something wrong?
+1

BMW started this sh!t about a decade ago when the last 2 digits didn't equate to the engine size stupid marketing execs!

Are we sure the new model will not offer a six speed manual? If not, I'm out.

Agreed....
It seems a tad perverse that they have to put that extra effort into 'tuning' the exhaust 'sound' to produce a deep 'rumble'
Put that V8 in and they would have little to do to tune the exhaust.....

Drat, only just bought my 35i 4 months ago, now I want this model

No, PATIENCE..........
I shall wait, what follows is going to be better still.......each model improves on the previous one............ well done BMW, keep it up

A lot of MMM's in the press release story, beside the extra engine power it got only heavier because of all the M badges .
So no serious performance improvements.
