Maserati GT pressed me

Just filtered into the highway while slowly filtering to the fast lane, a Maserati GT squeezed right behind me. He came damn close as if he wanted to smell my butt. It was in the evening with loads of car on the freeway and there wasn't any room to move faster. Still he tailgated me for more than 2km. I was driving 100km/hr (highway speed limit is 90km/hr) and there wasn't room for me to move to the slower lanes either. Frustrated, I tried to slow down to create a gap between the front car and mine. Once gap is bigger, I pushed my twin-turbo N54 to close the gap to see how fast the GT can catch up. Well, he did keep up. When it was time to for me to filter out to make an exit, he zipzaged to the extreme slow lane and try to block my path. I gave it a shove and blasted out of the corner into the middle lane before filtering out to exit. If not for my wife (who is not comfortable with such maneuvers), I would not have relented. From the looks of it, I don't think the Z4 s35i is that inferior to that bloody heavy-ass Maserati GT.

Today, Maserati's are lux'o boats, a Ferrari step child. At one time they were one of the truly great Marques. My friend, he's upscale luxury in a grandpa sort of way, but from a performance point view you could have him for lunch.

Are you guys sure the sDrive 35 will smoke the Maserati GT? The GT is surely heavier, but with 95bhp more than the 35i; Torque is 35lb.ft more and though they both make 5.2s from 0-60mph
Unless that z4 is chipped, I don't see how it will smoke the GT....

Valid point, but if the Z got the jump on the old codger, he'd never catch up.

No one said that.... If you read his post he says "[the Z4] it's not that inferior to a GT"

On paper the GT really is not that much faster because it weighs two tons, when the differences are a tenth or two of a second it all comes down to reaction times of the drivers... I've had cases where I react faster than an SL55 or Porsche whatever or Audi R8 and that split second gives me all the advantage I need to embarras an asswhole or two.

The 35i will do 5.2 with 4 100lb dumbells in the trunk. Without them it's 4.3 - 4.7 seconds, depending on conditions.

Is there any discernable difference between an a$$whole and an a$$hole?

Memphis, in the comments... Maybe they did not use the word smoke him, but eat him for lunch... I did not know you guys are all lawyers here (no offense meant)...
I agree with you, if you are a sharp driver in your Z4 and the guy sitting in the SL55 / Porsche 911 / Audi R8 is semi high, yes you will embarrass an asshole or two.. or if you are on a 500 meter road with a dead end...
Bottom line of my comment was not to stir up things / create an argument... Rather to be more realistic when we compare our adorable Z4 to others ;-)

This could be very true... BMW always under-estimate its figures... My E93 was marked for 5.2; It was more on the 4.8/4.9
With JB3 (Mod 6) I was able to do 4.2

The Z4 is lighter indeed....

OP must have spent a small fortune on the Z since s/he's in Singapore...I can't imagine how much that Maser must've cost.

I don't think I started the post to compare who is faster. I am just pissed off with the behavior of the GT driver. Obviously he wasn't trying to pass me when the road ahead was congested and the tailgating me within 2 feet of my rear bumper was definitely not a friendly gesture. He was either showing off his 440k car or he felt like trashing a z4 that day.
