Would you ever....

....put mud guards on a z4? Sorry for all the "newbie" questions. My car is white and I already see that road grime gets kicked up onto the lower side of the car from the wheels. This is probably more noticeable because the car is white. I have put mud guards on other cars and they have done the job in my opinion. This is my first really sporty car and I'm not sure if it is appropriate on this type of car. I wouldn't want to do anything that is not PC on such a nice car. I see that BMW offers them as an accessory. If someone has installed them I would love to see a picture.

I personally would not. I have not seen many Z4's with them actually, but in the end it is what your needs are.

The items for the Z4 certainly look like a belt and braces approach to mud flap design.

Bulky and ugly compared to the rest of the car. I have idea though how they are mounted. If it involves drilling and self tappers I wouldn't bother.

When I had my Z4's I thought about it, then I saw one and it looked so very ugly after that I never ever thought about it again.

This is want I want to know. Functionally I'm sure they would do the trick but I would hate to mess with the sleek and refined look of the car. It has gorgeous lines.

PS- Just got home from work and I'm in the garage surfing the net and admiring the car! Crazy!

.... My point exactly, remember your car was designed by 2 ladies and they did a fantastic job

Mudflaps are on par with that bike rack someone installed on their Z4. Give me a break!

Hard choice, while I think they look like crap, stone chips are worse. You might want to consider one on the "invisible" protective films.

Yes, I would. I know it is a personal choice, but I prefer to have my paint protected from chips, etc. I am very anal when it comes to scratches, dings, and chips. I can live with a little ugly since I don't try to impress people with the car I drive, whether BMW or Porsche, but I would like for my cars to remain in showroom condition (though they are both daily drivers).

I wouldn't. For me cars are gonna get chips anyways, with or without the mud flaps. I enjoy the overall look of the Z4 without the mud flaps. I didn't even get clear bra for my car, so I do put money where my mouth is!

Yes, because everybody else here is trying to do just that. It was the only reason we bought the car in the first place.

Personally I just prefer to enjoy driving the car rather than worrying about its resale value all the time.

My Z4 is yellow. The only time that I've had an "offensive" build up of grime in that area is from the tire dressing that the dealership applied pre-delivery. Since that has thankfully worn off, grime in that area hasn't been bad. Needless to say I don't apply tire dressing when washing the car.

What I was recommending is a Clear Bra, it will protect those vulnerable areas and not take away from the lines/look of the car.
