Broke my phone, looking to get a new one
When I was remounting a license plate + frame for applying a registration sticker, I dropped my phone and the screen was cracked on one corner. With that damage, the lower half of the touch screen is now unresponsive and it's making random inputs on the touch screen.
So far, I am eyeing the... Samsung Galaxy S6: apparently outperforms all other phones in the market by a large margin. It just came out so it won't be obsolete tech right off the bat. Price is reasonable. Sadly, not feeling it with the looks and no microSD. (I value expandable storage plus I like transferring files this way.) Samsung Galaxy Note 4: very versatile, awesome size, microSD card slot, performs well enough. On the other hand, the awesome size is discouraging me a bit, price is a bit steep (~100 USD more) considering it's inferior to the S6 in MANY aspects and I feel it's going to be replaced soon. LG G3: I was content with my now broken G2 so I'm expecting to get the same contentment and more from the G3. Price is ridiculously cheap (~200 USD cheaper than the S6) atm that replacing this phone wouldn't hurt at all. I'm scared the same heat management and screen issues are still present and I'd like to try other brands (never had a Samsung smartphone before). My options are a bit limited because I'm T-Mobile. Any other options are welcome as long as they're Android (I just hate all other OS's). I've seen and held these three phones IRL but never got to use them. I'm the type to replace his phone every 3 years unless circumstances like this occur. |

I lookes into the S6 and read that it can get warm and drain the battery quickly. No removable battery or microsd might be a deal breaker for some as well. Other than that the phone seems fantastic to me.

My thoughts exactly! But reading reviews and looking at the S6 specs says it's the best out there atm.

I heard there are some overheating issues with the HTC m9. Not a fan of the s6 because of the battery and SD card issue. If I was interested in getting a phone without a ride movable battery or sd card slot I would go with the nexus 6.

Now if you were with VZ I'd suggest the Droid Turbo, but so far I've had horrible luck with Korean phones, and the few times I've deviated from fixing computers and doing phones, the ones that have been a major PITA were Korean... Samsung is all about marketing, but no commitment whatsoever to its actual quality (whereas Apple is about marketing too, but at least there's a bit more commitment... But I'm not an iOS fan either).
All things considered, get a Nexus. I'd say Sony Xperia, but my friend had one, and the waterproof shield covering the USB port falls off too easily (like 2 weeks later with the newest version). Get that if you don't mind it, but otherwise I hope that the M9 resolves the heat/drain issue.

Haven't had any heating issues with my m8 but if I were in the market for a new phone, it'd probably be the m9 even when it looks the same.

I think I'll end up going Note 4 or HTC M9. Crap battery life on the S6 turned me off. |

I had the Samsung S5. A lot of the advantages they touted were taken out for the S6 like the removable battery, micro SD. Build quality for the S5 was inconsistent like the USB cover broke after normal use. I had to replace. The phone would freeze, overheat, and run slow. After turning off all the stupid gimmicky features that Samsung incorporated into the phone, it ran better. But it never solved the heat issue. That's probably why Samsung quietly switched over to their own chip for the S6 from Qualcomm. Battery life was terrible on the S5 and I found that funny with their Battery Hugger ads. And Android doesn't seem to handle multi-tasking very well. If you don't close them it will slow down. I wish there was a "garbage collector" to fix that issue instead of having to do it manually. Also do not pay full price for the Samsung phone. Prices will drop and you'll feel even worse like I did. And if you care about warranty and something happens to your phone then good luck since it will take weeks or longer to get it back depending on if it ships to Texas or South Korea. At least with Apple, it's same day. Or get HTC and they will overnight you a phone according to their no questions asked ad.

I bought a second generation Moto G last month. Lollipop, 5" screen, good battery life for $180 on Amazon. Has most features of more expensive phones. Cuts a few corners: no 4g data, only single band wifi and only 8gb internal storage (I have a high end external SD and it's been very manageable).
Overall, I think it's a super value. Call quality is good, screen is more than adequate and performance is good. It's an unlocked GSM phone and may have T-Mobile compatibility. I'm on an AT&T mvno so I can't vouch for T-Mobile. I also considered the OnePlus One as it's now available without invite. $300 plus shipping and most features are top of the line. Only issue I saw was you are saving money buying it direct from China but how will warranty and maintenance work from such a long distance? |

I've got the Note 4 as well. Screen is good size coming from iPhone 4 but about the same as iPhone 6.
Battery life is pretty good. As long as you have a car charger handy, you can juice up the battery on the go to last you the day. Apps such as Waze will deplete battery life if you use a lot of mobile data. I'm on Lollipop and having DNS issues at work that I didn't have on Kit Kat. I downgraded back to KK and it fixed the DNS issues and then I accidentally updated to Lollipop again and DNS issues came back. Phone gets warm but not overly hot. At times Touchwiz will crash and system gets slow. |

I have the G3, great phone. Anyone that has the phone will tell you the first thing you do when you get the phone is do a factory reset or you may have issues similar to the other poster. The G4 is coming soon (may be out) so maybe check that out.

The charger that comes with it claims(and it actually works) around 50% in about 30 minutes if you need a quick boost at some point. I also got myself the anker 24w car charger just in case. Charges very fast. |

I currently own the LG G3 which has been outstanding! I may grab the just released G4. I strongly suggest you check them both out.
