I talked to my service advisor about replacing mine at 4 years; she said it was too early if I didn't experience problems, but they do recommend doing it at 5 years.

Guys under which menu is the new battery 'registration'?
All I can find is 'Battery Adaptation' or something from memory under the engine section...is this the same thing? |

this topic definitely will get attention if it really costs $600 when the battery needs replacement. I checked Autozone and it does show they carry AGM type batteries for the Z4

The ECU has to be told that a new battery is installed in the car. That is the "registration" part. You can install the battery and do the registration, but you ave to have the software and OBDII cable. It's very easy once you get the SW installed in your laptop.
