Launch control
1300 miles on the ODO, and yes it's DCT. I do as instructed in the manual put it into sport + with manual at gear 1, but the revs only go up to 1800 and no checkered flag.

okay, Sport+, M1, left foot on brake, and right pegged on gas? I think that is right but I have only done it twice and it has been a while. Also, if the car is not completely warmed up and at normal running temperature it will not let you do launch control.

you have to start with your foot on the brake, select sport +, slide the shifter to manual and push it forward to select 1st gear, slam the gas pedal (no mercy), wait for checkered flag and release brakes, hold on for dear life.
you have to have driven at least 6 miles and have the car operating at normal temp. otherwise just wait 'til maybe 2k miles on the odo.

What I do is go to Sport+, "downsift to M1" (give it an extra push to make sure the computer got it) and then apply foot on brake and very fast/hard on gas. Works everytime.

I don't believe you have to hold the brake down to activate the launch control. If you are in Sport+ and M1 you can just floor the accelerator past the kick-down switch and it will bring the revs up and the drop the clutch.
It does this every time in my car without having to holding the brake or getting the flag symbol.

Well if I floor the accelerator past the kick-down switch it revs to ~3000+ RPMs and drops the clutch. So is this normal for everyone else? If I floor the accelerator to just before the kick-down switch it engages the clutch off idle like a normal manual.

LC only happens if you see the checkered flag My M3 does what you described, but it's not the same as LC

Tried LC for the first time yesterday and was quite surprised with the amount of wheel spin and side waggle. I swear I was going at least 10-12 inches on both sides. This doesn't seem normal to me for a stock car with traction control. Only thing I have is 19inch wheel 255 in the rear. My 98 mz3 without traction wouldn't even waggle so much. Can someone show me a clip of a normal launch so I can see the difference?

You're missing the point. In order to do LC, you have to turn off traction control.

Too much wheel spin for my liking. I dont think it is faster off the line than simply loading up the box and flooring it. I think it is more of a party trick as it does all the change ups for you as you accelerate away.

The LC on the e89 will ONLY work well, and actually optimize 0-60, with an aftermarket TRUE LSD not that crappy differential BMW stocked our car with. The end. =)

Totally agree. Seems like a more show-offy kind of LC than a real effective one. Im sure I can just put it in sport mode, floor it, and get better results than the LC.

I've not tried LC, but the DCT drivers setting record 1/4 mile for the 1 series claim .2-.3seconds slower without LC. They have DSC OFF also. I was curious about use of LC/DSC OFF since the transmission shift speed program is fastest in Sport and Sport+ mode while shifting manually.
