The issue with the BMW consumer car SMG (sequential manual gearbox), is they attempted to automate it, unlike its race bred cousin which is a fully manual operation.
They use logic circuits and hydraulics to automate the clutch operation and make it shift. The ///M5 and ///M6 still have a BMW SMG and it's terrible. Although they’re pretty good in performances modes, they shift too hard for normal use, are very quirky in stop and go situations and clutches are short lived. |
