Fixed airbag light after new seat install

After looking around the web on how to cancel the airbag light and passenger occupancy sensor. I decided to try just ripping everything out of the old seat.
Pulled out the entire occupancy sensor, side airbag, seat belt and wiring harnes which plugs into all 3. Then just plugged it back in and tucked the occupancy pad under the seat and left airbag on the side till I figure out a better placement. All warnings for airbag and passenger occupancy cleared after clearing codes.

Adding some pics of my home made seat brackets and seats for reference. As well as some content for a slow moving forum, lol.

Good to see a seat mod…so you have the old bits tucked under the new seats ?

Yes this is a bit of a slow forum these days…

B21, you are correct about the forum being slow. I have really enjoyed your helpful guidance and shared knowledge over the winter. Once spring arrives I’ll be tackling quite a few projects on my Z4 and will document some of those here.

Rah-Vee, those are some nice seats!

It is what it is…I see some other forums which have died on their feet..hopefully more posts here will generate more views / traffic etc..

Putting sportier seats isnt a bad idea... I owned a few Type-Rs before my Z and seats in those were amazing..
but then you still need to retrim the seats to match you other interior bits... in your case red...
Also what happens to the airbag you stuck under the seat in say.. a side impact.. its going to deploy explosively under that seat... these things have some power when they deploy...So its basically like a selfmade ejectorseat ...
There has to be a way to code seat airbags off or replace it with some dummy item in the harness...

There was this one guy on forums who had buckets in his car.. Asbjorn..
He used to post here, but his build thread is on spool street forum.

Maybe you could shoot him a PM and ask how he got all the seat errors sorted.If he did...

Replace the airbag with a resistor, the car thinks the airbag is there so won't get a light on the dash. Common mod when fitting after market steering wheels.
I did that with my old Z3

Rah-Vee,

What's the box between your seats?

@Steve Jarvis
Its a Kicker(46HS10) 10inch powered sub, I usually have it behind the passenger seat but pulled out for the install. It should fit under with these new seats which ill test fit soon.

@Jakeinaka
Yup I just found the resistors and will be trying to swap the airbags for them soon.

@KennyP
Im considering having a shop swap the blue fabric to black suede. The airbag goin off under the seats was a concern but im going to test some resistor replacements soon. The seats are great, the side bolstering feels like its actually holding your sides, very comfy and secure.
