Anyone run 18" Snow Wheels/Tires?

Anyone run 18" snow tires on a 2009 or newer Z4 (any model) through heavy snow? Was going to go with 225/40R18s on 18 x 8.5s... Wondering if there were any real significant disadvantages to running 18" as opposed to 17" in a good amount of snow. Since my 2011 Zed will be my only daily driver, I need a good set of snow shoes, and the selections seem to be way better for 18s and Tire rack keeps indicating issues with certain 17s fitting...

Plus, these wheels that I was kinda digging only come in 18" or bigger:

the actual diameter is irrelevant... the width is what you're trying to keep as thin as possible....

However running on 17" wheels instead of 18" wheels means a higher profile tire which is preferable in winter.

I agree with all of this, but was curious, has anyone run 18" winters and had any notable issues?

I have the wheels 18x8 ordered the Michelin tires. Will post pictures later and first impressions .... glad to rid myself of the dreaded RFT

They say 17" are the best for snow, I will get by with 18" I don't plan to drive too much when there is snow on the ground. I got a good deal on the wheels so 18" it will be for my winter set.

I ran 18" on my previous car, summer (GoodYear Eagle F1 GSD3) and winter (Bridgestone Blizzak LM25) with no problem.

just got Michelin X-Ice Xi2's on Elbrus I02 rims (cheap but then again they're for winter). Here's a comparison between summer tires and winter tires. pray that I stay right side up
