Kill Story

Sunday night: I was cruising about 80 (* some Texas highways are 75mph)coming back from Houston at around 12:30 am. All of a sudden a G37 flies by me doing at least 100+. I give chase and was side by side when we come up to the red light. I switched to Sport mode and flipped it to S drive while at the red light. He pulls down his windows and gives me a nod. When the light turned green, we both take off and I proceeded to put at least 10 car lengths between us. I slow down for him to catch up, but he slowed down and didn't try to get side by side. Maybe he was surprised the Z had that much power and was too embarassed to run again from a rolling start.

We need a Kill Story section.

True-dat. I take it to go to north Austin from 71.

I have a few of these stories and they end very similar.

The best one was the shock on the face of an early GT500's owner, I didn't pull away but maybe a half of a car length but when we stopped he came out to talk to me. He was very shocked how fast these little cars are. Now the new GT500's are a different story...... But they are only good for that speed in a straight line, find some curves and they back off pretty hard. Solid rear axial......

Another one was a 2014 Mustang GT with "5.0" all over the car. He wanted to do a rolling start on the highway at 65 MPH "well he floored it when I came around him, so I hit the kickdown button". He got owned and wouldn't even line back up, he dropped back about 1/4 mile and when I slowed down to 60 mph he still wouldn't come up beside me.

I could make a long list of the cars that have tried to pull this little straight 6.

G8, GTO, Solstice, Boxter, SLK, Miata's, Scion's, All Dodge's with a Hemi and any amount of Trucks (in the south they think nothing is faster than a full size pickup ) Number one offender? Mustang's.....

It feels good when someone thinks these are just toy cars and have no idea they are really lite and very fast once tuned.

Nice! Curious how the SLK did vs the Z4. I know that the SLK can make tons of power when modded

He didn't know that, when he did 100+ fly by. He had a loud exhaust, wheels, body kit...the works cosmetically. Should have put more into his engine than the exterior.

Good story. G35/G37s always try to race me when I'm in the Z. No one tries in the M3 except super modded N54s. When I was still stock in the M3, I got smoked by a FBO 135i running E85 and meth.

How much power do you reckon you're putting down, DKZTT? Are you going to get a Pro Tune? That's my plan as soon as I get DPs.

I do miss the Texas highways. I used to live in San Antonio.

I have a C6 Corvette and it KILLS my BMW Z435is. What do they say? There's no replacement for displacement. Don't get me wrong, my Z4 is plenty fast, but I didn't buy it to be the fastest car out there.

I am not sure on whp. The Cobb AP3 shows torque numbers. On one of the gauges, I've seen it hit 450 in torque so how close is that to actual horsepower I am not sure.

I have the Cobb and have wanted a custom tune, but the only place that would do it is up near Plano. Sucks that Cobb doesn't provide that service here in Austin even though their headquarters and R&D is here.
