Is there any way to keep the DRL bright while headlights are on?

I like the brightness of the DRL until I turn on the headlights and then they dim and don't look nearly as good-same as when they are on with ignition on but car not running and then when actually start the car they go to the bright setting. Any coding that would fix this? I have Idrive and don't see any way to change it through that.

Resurrecting this thread as I see no one answered and I would love to know myself. I was sitting with ProTools yesterday for hours trying to solve this to no avail.

I have the 2013 E89 Z4 35is LCI, so it has the LED halos. would love to stop the dimming when putting the low beams on.

I’d imagine it’s fixed by logic as you don’t want bright DRLs with no anti glare ‘ no cutoff when it’s dark..

I do though, You can control the brightness via voltage, I wouldn’t put it at full brightness as that would shorten the led’s lifespan but I do want it less dim when the lights switch on as they definitely dim far to much, from 12.2v down to 3v is a huge difference.

I know you do..I’m just explaining for certification reasons maybe it was limited,,like max range for remote locking, like why you have to hold the button for roof lock n unlock etc…

Yes you can. You need Bimmercode app and proper OBDII dongle and you can program that. I did it on mine and there are a lot of other features you will likely want to add as well.

I have this one, it has gone WAY up in price since I bought it for $79.99 in 2019: https://www.amazon.com/OBDLink-Bluet...s%2C150&sr=8-2

Bimmercode features for E89 Z4, new models have more features: https://bimmercode.app/cars/e89/
