Awesome.

Great comparison pics. Hmmm, tough call. I like the rear of the old better with the exception of the duckbill. The "new" rear is too plain for me, too Accord-like (my same complaint for the new 3-series).

From the side equally, although I hate the gull/gill inlet thing on the new Z4 in front of the side BMW badge.

From the front the new one definitely, although I hate the silver wind deflector things on the lower grill. I think the M looks better/more aggressive than both from the front.

Interior hands down to the new Z4.

I am surprised at how well the old compares to the new, and the old angular flame surfacing keeps it looking just as modern in my opinion. They both are striking cars.

I guess I like the New one better, but like the M-Roadster better still. Then again, I own an M-Roadster. The new car looks good, but I see no reason based on looks or performance to upgrade. I'll re-evaluate when the new Z4M comes out in a few years.

Front looks fantastic for the new z4 however I do not think the rear looks as good as the old Z4. Interior , I guess new Z4 is way better. Also, hardtop is a great feature for the new z4

I am dying to see the m-package with the new z4. It is going to look crazy beautiful with 18 inch 19 inch m wheels and m - accessories..

Nice to see them side by side. Makes comparisons much easier. It would be even cooler to see them in the same color side by side. (Maybe someone will do it someday.)

New is far superior. Old looks like the ugly brother. The rear on the new one looks just class. The old rear just doesnt mesh for me.

OLD wheels 5 spoke design is very cool. I wish they can have a similar design for the new Z4...

Barbera Red is an underappreciated color IMO. That old Z4 is stunning.

Somehow I actually did not like it.. The one you posted is I guess also used for e92 and e93 but still I prefer something similar to the old z4 5 spoke , maybe they can come with different rims for the m-package hopefully..

I have to say old Z4 looks better overall.
There's no elegance to new z4, especially considering it costs $60K+.

2nd generation LCI Z4 FTW.

But I still think even E86 looks ugly.
2 cents from an ex e86 owner.

The new car looks positively hideous from some angles, particularly from directly behind, where it looks like anything BUT a sports car, and very closely resembles a Chrysler sedan. There is NOTHING to like about that view, and others are compromised by the odd roofline created by the retractable hardtop.. at least to my eyes.

I believe the color of this E85 is Merlot. Either way, both colors are under-appreciated.

I dunno, I am pretty taken with it all around. That being said, I really love the look of the Z4M Coupe. I was close to purchasing one several times, but I really like the 3.0TT in the 135 and now in the new Z4. It gets great gas mileage and wonderful performance. I also like all the gadgets

New one for me. Front is better (old one looks sad, new one looks angry), back is better (old one looks too... old), interior is clearly better. What's not to prefer?

Only downside I can see at the moment? Cost. Don't get me wrong, I like the old one (almost bought one last year) but the new one, IMHO, is so much better.

It's interesting to note that most people who prefer the old model actually own one... Hmmm.

this is definitely not a rag on the old Z4 as i've always loved it, much more then the Z3.. but I do like the new Z4 even more. I think its a great evolution of the Z4 shape and a bit more aggressive as well.
