Bike Rack for E89 Z4?
I know is likely sacrilege, but has anyone mounted a hitch rack setup to the E89 Z4? I've read of some custom setups on the E85 and have seen one aftermarket kit for the E89. Ideally, the attachment would be well recessed and hidden from view under the 35is bumper. I really want to avoid a setup that would contact the body.
A lot of the roads we bike along the Blue Ridge Parkway and the NC/TN/VA mountains are the same ones ideal for the Z4. Just looking for a practical way to combine the two instead of using the Tundra to haul the bikes for remote rides. |

Kipster,
I was also curious about adding an inconspicuous hitch-mount to my new Z & after exhaustive searches 10+ months ago, wasn't able to find any "kits". There are a few examples out there for custom additions to earlier Z models, however. Here's one... http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1171 Unfortunately, I think we may be looking at a custom job as well. While I haven't reached out to anyone yet... I have been tempted to contact "Carolina Hitch" in Mooresville, NC. http://www.pages.lakenorman.com/CarolinaAccessories.htm They may be able to figure out a solution. Good luck, & do me a favor... let me know what you find!

Thanks for the information. I recall seeing the posts for the E85 rack systems and I agree we are looking at a custom install. I want something with a tray system to accommodate both road and mountain bikes, likely with a 1.25" receiver (or smaller).
I'll let you know what I figure out. A trip to Mooresville may be in order too! |
