A bit slow on the warm up, but not enough to cause concern if it was mine. I get the Gage to start moving at the 5 mile mark driving on "B" roads (60 mph) and another 4 miles to get to the "A" road (80 mph) where it reaches about 90c. The outside temps here are between -5 & + 5 right now.

Yes, this is normal.
The gauge in your Z4 is showing the oil temperature and not the cooling water temperature. Most cars will only have a cooling water temperature gauge. I guess you're used to this gauge behavior. If you would have both gauges, you would see that the cooling water gauge is increasing much faster than the oil temperature. But the oil temperature indication gives the true temperature condition of the engine. The warm-up speed depends on your driving style and many other conditions. But if you push it hard, it will warm-up faster off course. |

Re:
Z4 is the first car i've ever owned with an oil temp gauge.
I was rather shocked at how long a cars engine takes to get up to proper running temps. I miss my dads old cars with volt meters and oil pressure guages etc. |
