Question Best wax or polish?

Guys,

Low and behold, the old liquid polish I used to use is no longer available here.

I have tried the new (here at least) ICE liquid polish by Turtle wax - not a bad finish and easy to apply and clean off.
You can apply it to hot or cold metal. No residue on the glass or rubber as well.
Anyone able to recommend something better?

(I am experimenting on my old MAzda 3 MPS that I am selling first... )

Don't know if either Meguirs or Zaino products are available in OZ. Zanino is mail order only. A lot of Beemer folks swear by Zaino. I just ordered a kit and and going to try it out, as the Z is ready for a good waxing. I've previously been using the Meguirs products for years and really liked them, they seemed to provide good protection.

Here's a link to a Zaino -vs- Meguirs Gold test that is interesting. I've been using the The Meguirs Ultimate Detailer on the Z since redelivery, its nice & easy on /off plus leave a good finish. I like it much better than the Turtle wax ICE, which I bought for my daughters new car and didn't like it at all.

Based on their positive reviews, I recently ordered a kit of Zaino products. They were easy to use... and have, thus far, yielded great results.

After 4 weeks of 90+ degree weather... and several rain storms, car washes, the finish is glossy... deep... and offers phenomenal beading.

Soooo... I'm pretty happy.

I also ordered the Zaino Kit and am very happy with the results after doing my wife's Jag. My Z is not due just yet washed her yesterday may have to use the clay to remove some more bug marks today.

Cheers,

Spent the afternoon and evening yesterday putting the AIO and 3 coats of Zaino. Zaino is a lot of work! albeit easy to put on. I now know every inch of paint on my car.
I will finish today with the clear seal. Will post pictures when done.

I have been using Zaino for about 10 years. It takes more work to put on but the finish is well worth the extra effort. Always start a wax job with a good clay bar cleaning first. The difference is astounding. On a car the size of the Z plan on a full day for wash, clay, and Zaino. A day well spent.

Suggest the Klasse Twins. Have never let me down, pretty easy to use. Apply Spring and Fall. Much more suggests OCD.

Belgian in Kilmarnock?

The Zaino site explains it all: http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/...de=APPLICATION

It is best to use the clay bar. I didn't because I was lazy but I later found spots where I should definitely have used it... You should be able to find clay bars in any car parts store.

I use meguiars and swisswax ....than I remove swirl signs and little scratches with dodo juice pre wax polish.....
again for best results, I use microfibre clothes to dry car and again for buffing off the wax once is dried out.....
anyway, for suggestions and some tips for your car detailing, go to detailingworld.co.uk ....

+1 on Klasse, made by Krauts in Deutschland and well suited to the new paint. The sealant is a little more work than the AIO but worth the effort. I have a slight case of OCD as I usually end up using it 3 times a year, October, March and July.

I use a combination of Rejex and the Zaino line of products. Rejex when used on the front bumper cover, wheels, and most importantly the glass is a remarkable product. I have always been very impressed with the glass results especially. Makes for bug and debris removal a less annoying task, I no longer have to clay stubborn spots.

I'm about to go on a 29 day driving tour of mainland Greece, so I finally got around to using my Zaino products this week. It has been 13 months since my poor z4 was purchased and it hasn't seen a whiff of polish since.

I'm a complete noob in this respect, and can offer no comparisons to other products as I have not used them. All I can say for sure is that an initial treatment of Zaino is hard work, and a fantastic result.

The whole job took me around 6-7 hours from scratch.

I think the low point of this process for me was the point after claying. You've already washed the car once, clayed it, then you have to wash it again! At this point the look of the car is not hugely improved and you are very aware that if you stop at this point you have stripped away any remains of protection.

However the results are definitely worth it imo, it might not be looking much better but the feel of it is amazing, and once you finally get those polishes on the rewards start coming thick and fast.

A few photos, not too many because others have done more complete jobs, this is my first effort and I think any mistakes are down to me...

You guys need to try Zymol - its like hairwax for your car. Spread on my hand - you will not get a smoother finish in my opinion.

Used to use it on my elise before I got My Z.
Haven't had the chance to use it on the Z yet, but can't wait. Waxing the car is like...polishing a trophy!

In the US the Zymol available in the stores is just an average cleaner wax (blue) I have tried it and it is honestly really only an average carnauba wax.

The Zymol that you buy in the stores is equivalent to Turtle wax. It is no way near the quality of the Zymol products that you buy online. There is no comparison at all. I believe the blue Zymol products that you find in the stores is actually made by Turtle wax.

I do like the Zymol online products as well as Klasse. I have never used Zaino.

I really hope that my Zymol stuff is just the ordinary stuff! I think I paid about 180 bucks (Australian) for it a few years ago.
It does go a long way though, so not too fussed...

But definitely the smoothest finish I've ever had...

Yet to try on the BMW though.

You did a wonderful job looks great

I started my wife's Jag today using the Zaino I purchased on line here in Canada. Done the wash, clay treatment and second wash. Her car is resting in the garage now I am in my lazy chair ... the wax treatment will start tomorrow.

Enjoy your trip and take some photos ... post them when you return.
