I am going to change the oil/filter on my 35i Z for the 1st time. I have had it done under BMW MAINTENIANCE up until now and now that the freebies are over , I will be doing this myself seasonally. I only have 3000 miles on the oil but it is now 1 year old so time to go.
1.Can anyone verify that this oil and especially Mann oil filter part number are the recommended oil and correct Mann filter? 2. It was suggested to jack the car up and put her on jack stands. I have the correct jack pads , but I am not sure there to mount locate the jack stands on the front and rear. Does anyone have any pictures of the correct location points to put the stands? 3. Any recommendations on where "ON Line" the forum members are buying the oil and filters? I was going to use fcpeuro.com. Thanx in advance Fcpeuro.com BMW Oil Filter Kit - Mann HU816X Engine Oil FilterOE Numbers:11427541827 $9.95 MSRP: $13.31 BMW 5W30 Synthetic Engine Oil (1 Quart) - Genuine BMW 07510017866 $7.95 MSRP: $7.88

The filter comes with 2 O rings and a crush washer. The O rings replace the ones on the oil filter housing cap and the crush washer on the drain plug must be replaced as well. You will need an oil filter cap wrench. Again, find it at bavauto.com. The drain plug needs a 17mm socket. Jack stands - look under the side skirt just behind the front wheel and just in front of the rear wheel. You will see a rectangular recess. This is where the jack points are. You can buy rubber jack stand covers to protect the car. Good luck.

Hello all,
Can 2013 z4 35i used a car oil fluid extractor pump to pump the oil out from tip stick hold - for oil change instead of going from the the bottom and cranking up the car? I was think of getting on this Fluid extractor pump which I attached a picture as an example. Mine is a manual transmission not sure if that matter! Anyone done this people, please advice! Thanks all! |

DCT oil change is different
DCT oil is about $300.00+ It is used in a whole different unique way. The procedure is exacting requiring warming up the oil. Too much or too little is problematic. I can only suggest doing some research on this. I leave it alone.

Seems to me he is asking about the engine oil assuming " tip stick hold" is supposed to mean "dip stick hole".
There is no dip stick hole and extracting oil this way leaves any sediment that is on the bottom still in the sump. Drain it out the bottom. |

Thanks for forwarding this note. I would have to get lots of required equipment like the jack and stands, etc. if I have to lift the car.
Might just let the dealer do it Quote:

I just installed a Fumoto valve on my 35i to make future oil changes more convenient. It's not as easy as using an extractor through the dipstick but attaching a hose and turning the lever is still way more convenient than messing with the drain plug and splashing oil.
