why? any reason?

Few people that i speak of, car enthusiasts, there are two reasons why they will not do PPF

1. a good PPF installer requires all panels to be removed in order to “tuck in” the PPF. This could results in possible clips damage which then make rattle noise. Or a bad panel install would produce rattles.

2. PPF only lasts for a year or two depends on the PPF quality. After that, it must be removed or otherwise would risk yellowing, or worst. The original paint will stick to the PPF, and will peel together with PPF.

With that said, i still see no reasons on why you should avoid PPF. For number two, you can remove it after you buy the car, for number one, you can go to dealership for warranty claim if you hear any rattle

Yeah, same, why? This is a very puzzling point of view.

To me, it shows the buyer cares enough to spend the money to keep the car looking nice. My 911 had one from the previous owner and the car was perfect when I bought it. I would much rather have the previous owner pay for it.

As far as Golf vs. Type R, I would go Type R - much more fun. If you don't need all wheel drive it's a no brainer. And if you like money, also a no brainer - you won't lose much, if anything, on the Type R.

It's an interesting take but I get it. PPF conceals a lot. You can apply film to a car that's a swirled out mess and the ppf will mask it. The paint will appear to be perfect.

This is terrible counsel. There is nothing factual about this post.

The Golf R also has excellent value retention and they cost the same new. I'm not sure I'd say it's more fun either, it's a much larger car with less power, less tuning potential and they tend to get a lot more attention, whether that's good or bad is up to you.

Wrong. He’s spot on. You couldn’t pay me to have my cars PPF’d, let alone buy one second hand with full PPF.

A good ppf installer requires all panels to be removed and ppf only lasts one to two years? Riiight! You don't know wtf you're talking about either lol.

You can have your PPF to be installed without removing panel, but that means your PPF won’t tuck in inside the panel gap. Instead the PPF will have few mm cut gap between panel gap. It’s like a sticker. Overtime this gap would collect dust and dirt build up. A good PPF installer would tuck in the PPF.

Read this so you know what i am talking about

https://www.onerpro.com/single-post/...f-installation

How are you going to tuck in the PPF without removing bumper ior door handle? Impossible.

As for longevity of PPF, you can research yourself. A very good PPF lasts max 5 years in which case it needs to come off the car or it will stick with the car paint.

Also read this user comments, pretty much confirmed what i said

I don't want to derail this thread, but everything you are saying is 100% categorically wrong.

PPF will last as long as it is maintained and none of the current films yellow. I've personally seen 21 year old film pulled off of a Porsche and zero paint came off of the car.

It’s not 100% peel off. Sometimes if PPF is not good quality, it would peel the original paint along with it. Also PPF will yellow… i am not the only one saying this. Other users with more experience like i referenced it said the same thing.

PPF isn’t for everyone. Not accepting that is like arguing about transmission choices.

Yes, you are the only one. The FK8 looks like some bullshit from an off brand street racing video game. All the fake cooling bits, non functional aero, and faux carbon fiber tells you everything you need to know.

I love the FK8. If I’m buying a bonkers FWD track car, I want it to look… bonkers

You can buy a new Golf R? There are huge markups and long wait times.
Despite the odd infotainment and I’ve heard some glitches with it, I would get the R, better all around car

CTR is a no brainer to me. You already have an AWD monster in the M4, might as well mix it up with the CTR.
