iPhone/iPod interface
Is there some sort of magic chant and rain-dance I need to do to get the iDrive system to play all tracks on either my iPhone or iPod on shuffle? I've tried *everything*. I tried "all tracks" then selecting "options... random"... I've tried creating a playlist in iTunes which is "all tracks/shuffle". iDrive brings up the playlist, but it's ALWAYS in alphabetical order and starts playing the songs in that order. Twice now I've been able to, entirely by chance, hit the magic combination of buttons to get it to start playing my devices on just "shuffle" or "random". But for the life of me, I couldn't tell you what it was.
So, what is the most simple, clear, and straightforward way to plug in an iPod/iPhone, and get it to play all tracks on shuffle/random? Thanks. |

Not exactly sure what your problem is. I find the iPod/iDrive interface to be a little dodgy at times, too. Sometimes, though the problem is on the iPod side.
Have you tried disconnecting your iPod and soft-resetting it by holding the center button and the Menu button until the iPod reboots? That procedure seems to help sometimes. Also, is the firmware up to date on your iPod? What model iPod? |

If you click the options button while on a play list, you can select random.
It should skip around within the play list. Although I have seen it go outside the play list. You can also just hit > if it hits a song you don't want to hear but its next in the list, not next random song.
