http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=688237 I would suggest give Wedge/Buraq, or PTF a call. There's definitely more hp left on the table to squeeze before going turbo upgrade.

I have not put my car on a Dynojet yet but here is a Virtual Dyno from my custom Wedge map. Stock turbos,FBO on 93
400 whp is about the max that you can get out of 93. |

Pretty nice, numbers OP. Were you running a Stage 1 tune prior? I ask because in the "before" numbers, you were putting down to the wheel what BMW quotes at the crank.
I think running getting a custom tune file for ethanol (e.g., E85) is your best chance of safely and economically hitting 400 whp without a turbo upgrade. Should be easy to swap back and forth with the Cobb when you fill up. How much is an exhaust adding on these cars? I would be surprised if it's >5 whp. |

Eh, I wouldn't know how much hp would be added. I would say if a system relies on flow from start to end, more or improved flow can't hurt. Increases to overall efficiency would mean more beneficial than just a slight peak whp bump.

Mass State inspections will not Pass this mod but I am considering the FMIC and Cobb along with an Oil catch can.

I think the differences between HFC/catless DPs is probably less when you use an off-the-shelf Stage 2 Cobb tune, but probably grows more significant when you pro (i.e, dyno) tune the car. In my case, I bought catless downpipes for two reasons: First, I did not want to worry about the cheaper, ceramic cats in the downpipes on the market melting over time and eventually causing a dangerous increase in EGTs, with potential for engine damage. This may be a remote concern, but with no way to monitor EGTs and my plan to keep the car for as long as possible, I didn't want to risk it. Second, seeing as I am limited to 91 octane, I wanted to squeeze as much performance out of the car as I could. Since I have a 35i and not a 35is, I figured I can get away with catless DPs without too much an increase in noise/rasp. |

you wont get a CEL with the catless DP's and a tune, so you might be ok with emissions as long as it passes a sniffer.
