Alcantara
Not that I have this problem yet, but can anyone recommend how to clean bird droppings from Alcantara leather?
It's bound to happen at some point |

Happened to me but on my coral red leather. Used some wipes which took care of it. Idk if it would be the same in your case! And don't just sit on it and neglect it. Thats def not a good idea

Actually I cannot find a BMW cleaner for the synthetic suede. However I have found that is it much less of a pain in the ass to clean than you might first think. The fact that it is synthetic helps a lot. You can simply use a diluted mixture of woollite and warm water to clean it (I am sure any gentle fabric detergent, diluted would work) I just dab that on, then give it a brush with the same cloth. At first it looks as though you may have ruined the fabric, but once it dries it is perfectly clean. It is actually a great alternative to 'real' suede.

Integraworks, thanks for the cleaning advice!
And yes, it is likely to happen to me since I tend to leave my top down if I'm making a few stops while driving. I've come back to my other car plenty of times to find calling cards on the roof...no roof, it's on the seat! |

Reminds me of a funny story that happened to me last year...I was going tuna fishing on a friend's boat, and we were to leave his dock very early the next morning ( when it was still dark out ).
I drove to his marina, and had trouble finding a parking place near his dock. I finally saw a spot in the front row next to a telephone pole, and remarked on my good luck. We went fishing for the day, and came back late afternoon. When I walked back to my truck, I couldn't believe what I saw. The entire roof, hood, and bed of the truck was covered in thick white bird crap !!!!! Turns out there was an osprey nest on top of the telephone pole, and the birds were feeding their young on fish. Apparently they also crap over the side of the nest. I soon figured why this one parking place was not being used by any of the locals ! I hadn't even seen the nest because it was pitch dark when I got there. If this had been the Z4 with the top down, I think it would have to be sent to the wrecker's yard... |

a clean damp terry cloth and just a drop of diluted delicate woolite or clothes detergent and it honestly does the trick ! I neglected the alcantara on the seats for the last 2 years and although there were no stains I got annoyed with the seatbelt marks and the pollution dirt behind the headrest ... this removed all the dirt and now the alcantara is like new !
ps: Don't get a heart attack when you see it darken as you clean it with the damp cloth ... it will be back to normal when it dries ! |

I have a white stain which I assume is from dried on bird poop on the folding top compartment lid. That's the black plastic part right behind the seats. I've tried various cleaners, but the stain is still there.

I don't think BMW sells a cleaner or conditioner for Alcantara, since it is a suede not a leather product. I would (if I was the OP) have a good read here (CLICK)
then make a Google search about cleaning the Alcantara interior he then might come across sites like this one here --->Click to Open

I was able to buy a bottle of BMW's "natural" cleaners that claims to be good for Alcantara. I don't have the part # but IIRC it was like USD $8.95. Probably the cheapest thing I will ever buy at the dealership.
