am running Bridgestone Potenza RE760.

They are cheap, quiet, very good treadwear and more comfortable than the RFT... Now, I was expecting even more comfort's improvement

I agree with Mr STOOF: RE050 suck. I got them on my GTI and big disappointment.

Not to jack this thread, but for those of you running on non-RFT, what have you chosen to use in case you pick up a nail or have a slow leak (e.g., mobility kit, a can of Slime/Fix-a-Flat, SOS button)? There was a thread started regarding this topic, but quickly morphed into the infamous #296 haters club: http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthre...=non-rft+spare
PLEASE let's not get that started again!!!

I'm planning on using a non-RFT for the winter.

The Continental mobility kit fits perfectly in the recess in the front wall of the trunk, where one might have the pass through. For those without the pass through, this kit fits snugly and takes up no additional room.

I just got a set of Conti sport contact 3's on the zed, had 30,600 on the rft's and no cracks in the wheels . No, I'm not related to Rolf D so no rant about rims..Glad to see the rfts go

Turns out my smoke production has been a little too spirited...

I found a 4 inch long thread slowly ripping itslef out of the left rear today, after noticing a loud wacking noise while driving....

The only tyres I could get in short order (before I fly again) were the Goodyear F1 asymmetric2
at (ouch) $800 each.
argh argh argh argh

I hope they are good. They were $150 a tyre more than everything else (that weren't available until late next week)

This should be the most valuable mobility kit delivered in the US :

Looking forward to your feedback.

PS : The michelins pilot super sport are just "nice" according to a friend with e46 m3, it takes a while until they are warmed up but the rear end feels very progressive from grip to sliding conditions which is a good feature.
Bottom line, he couldn't justify their price.

Can I pick up on an old thread please, and ask what people have used Tyre pressure wise, compared to what BMW recommend.

UK tyre pressures recommendatins (from BMW) are different to the US anyway, and on my door slam it states (in bar)

2.6 Front
3.1 Rear

(18" wheels)

I've just got Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's NON RFT and when set to the above feel bl00dy awful! Too hard, too twitchy at speed.

I've lowered them slightly and it feels a lot better, if still a little less stable at high speed.

I've 18" wheels, as I know on my car the door slam sticker states different sizes according to the wheel size.

Cheers

David

Try 2.4 front, 2.7 rear. If you experience excessive understeer set 2.2 on all corners then work your way up if needed. But 2.4f, 2.7r should be your max limits according to continental.

Any further impressions regarding the f1s?

Just ordered 18" Michelin Pilot Super Sport's from TireRack.
They are being installed tomorow.

p.s. Got 25K miles out of the OEM runflat Bridgestones, rears were definately shot but fronts still had some life. Not sure if 25K miles is necessarily good or bad :-)

Hankook EVO S1 19 inch

Tried Michelin Pilot super sport 19 inch, 235 front and 265 back. Didn't work. Lots of tracking, kind of wild behavior of the car. Changed to Hankook EVO S1 last week. Got a new car, completely different; no tracking, reasonably quiet, great handling in the corners. I'm very satisfied with the new tires. The rims are AC Schnitzer type VIII forged, by the way.
