I really like the stock M3/4 wheel. They have good offsets, widths and styling, but it's a little heavy for a one piece forged wheel 22lbs. front and 23lbs. rear. The VS-5RS wheels I'm looking at are 9.5/10.5 vs. 9/10 and they're 20lbs. front and 21lbs. rear.

Apex make some nice wheels..my other set are their 19” Arc-8s…

I’ll live with the weight penalty as a trade off for the price I paid..

Look forward to the end result..

I may go with the Anthracite. I can get the front in a 19x9.5" +35mm offset. To get the gold, I have to get a 19x9.0" +30mm offset. I can always change the color, I can't change the size.

I had silver on my old 335, ended up going 18" anthracite EC7s

This is my daughters car with some gunmetal VMR V710's in 19". They're heavy, but work well for the pot holes in the DC area (where she currently lives).

I ended up ordering the 19x9.5" +35mm front and 19x10.5" +45mm rear wheels and they're supposed to be here today. I'm very excited. I need to test fit the wheels, order the tires and get the tires mounted before I can install them on the car. So, unfortunately not ready for pictures yet. I'll try to take some picture of the fitment and tweaks shortly. Last week I went ahead and installed some H&R springs.

FWIW..my 437Ms 9j 10j 29/40 offset..

With a 275 on the back, with reduced rear camber 1.7 degrees..just kisses the liners on both sides with wheels unloaded..

So 45 plus 10.5j will be pushing them well into the liner by another 10 ish mm..

[QUOTE=Steve Jarvis;30307512]I'm considering a 35i/is and have a few questions.

- It appears the paddles went from thumb push to finger pull. Did this happen with the LCI timing?
- Did the LCI change mid year 2013 or for the 2014 model year in the US?
- Are there any options that are a must have (all relative I know)?
- How much did the technology change (i-drive etc.) and is it work getting newer versus older due to these changes?

I would prefer a 6 speed manual car with no wood trim, but that's a unicorn in the US. I know the trim can be changed and I'm not sure if I'm ready to compromise on the trans. I have a 2017 M4 Comp and my biggest regret is getting the DCT.

If I buy the car, I plan to make it a little more aggressive and sporty with the addition of a tune, coil-overs and wheels/tires. I know this isn't a Boxster in the handling department, but the Boxster is gutless relative to a tuned N54. I can improve the Z4 handling easier than adding power to the Boxster.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Thumb push to finger pull paddles changed with the LCI update around 2013.
LCI likely mid-year 2013 or for the 2014 model year in the US.
Consider M Sport package, navigation, and premium sound.
Newer models have tech improvements; choose based on your preference.
35i/is is mod-friendly; upgrades like tune, coil-overs, and wheels/tires work well.
Personal preference matters; weigh importance of 6-speed manual vs. other factors.

In the rear, the wheel is almost touching at ride height and touches with 2" of compression. This is pretty much what I was expecting. Fortunately the geometry keeps the wheel pretty parallel with the inner fender when traveling up/down. I'm going to add a 3mm spacer and make a more room at the outer fender lip. Adjusted wheel size 19x10.5" +42mm.

In the front, I only have 0.035" of clearance between the strut and wheel (due to the thicker lip construction of the forged Apex wheels). I'm going to add a 3mm spacer here as well. Adjusted wheel size 19x9.5" +32mm.

I've already ordered the spacers and will order the tires this week. I'll try to add some test fit pictures below.

Rear at ride height, checking gap to outside of body and wheel assuming 2" of compression.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the boots on…

Wheels look lovely…

Thanks

Fortunately the wheels are about the same width as the tires. The area at the rim protector will be the widest part. The tread width will be less of a concern.

It's going to be tight, but I ordered the tires yesterday. 265/30R19 front and 285/30R19 rear Michelin PS4s.

There are two studs with nylon nuts that hold on the fender liner that I will trim about a 6mm. I trying to decide if I want to modify the fender liner and simply use some two sided tape to hold the liner tight to the inner sheet metal. I'll definitely position the liner as favorably as possible when reinstalling.

Below is a picture showing the position of the wheel at ride height and with 2" of compression (these are the two arches drawn with a Sharpie). The other picture shows the clearance to the stud/nut at ride height.

Tires are mounted, but unfortunately I’m headed out of town. I won’t have pictures with them mounted on the car until next week.

I put the 5mm spacers on the rear 437Ms and now I get no rubbing on the wheel well liner on full droop..obviously getting towards the limit of what you can fit …that’s 10J 40mm original offset..275/30 19…sports contact 7
