H8 LED Angel Eyes

FYI
Stay away from these 32 watt H8 LED lamps for our Angel eyes.
These are being sold on Amazon by Autolizer.

The description from the seller was as follows:
H8 32W 360-Degree CREE LED Halo Bulbs 6000K Super Bright Xenon White BMW Headlights Super Bright White Angel Eyes Lamps for BMW E60 E61 E90 E92 E70 E71 E82 E89 1 3 5 Series X5 X6 Z4

I paid $69.99 shipped. I just received them and low and behold they do not fit. The Large, extra wide heat sinc does not allow the lamp to seet into the socket housing and twist lock into place. The heat sinc fin hits the 2 mounting screws that hold the reflector in place on both sides and do not allow you to lock the lamp in place. Autolizer/Amazon agreed to take them back. I am disapointed. I was hoping these higher wattage (32) LEDs would fit and work for the price.

Any recommendations in this or close to price range. I am not going to pay $250 for a set of the high end lamps. Its not worth that much to me.

That's too bad. Cree is a good manufacturer. I would have liked to see what these looked like, although after all that's been posted about these bulbs, I can't see how you can avoid the disparity in brightness between the inner and outer rings. It's due to the way the headlights are manufactured. I'm awaiting a new HID set because my Alpines failed on me. I'll post up some pix when I get them installed, but they're in the price range you don't want to pay.

See previous post in general forum: http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=868869.

Those are the ones I bought 2 weeks ago. I ground the heat-sink down an additional 1/2" so they would fit. Later I tried to use the radio. Forget about it! Unusable do to RFI generated by the "constant Current LED drivers"! Vendor plays dumb in regard to interference. AVOID!

Have been pondering about getting the LUX ($250) ever since I got the car, but like you mentioned... doesn't seem worth it especially considering sub-par illumination due to poor AE optics design.

Not a direct competitor, but I think I'm going to get a set of GP Thunders. They're not LEDs, and they're also not as bright as the uber-expensive kinds. But as I was told, brighter than OEM and at $15 for the set, I think I'm going that route for now. Keep us up to date on what you find though...

Agreed. Cree is a quality manufacturer for LED chips. That is why I was wiling to give them a try. I was going to do the the same and modify the heat sinc. to make them fit. Glad I didn't do this as per the other key issues experienced here with loss of the radio to interference.
Has anyone been successful on installing the 20 watt H8 LED versions which have a much smaller/ narrower heat sinc and not get the interference on the radio?

Did you take a look at this thread? http://e89.zpost.com/forums/showthre...ght=angel+eyes
There are a lot of information on LED lights tested by forum members.
Prices are in the range you are looking for.
I have a kit like this for almost a year and no issues until now.

Thanx for the reminder and lead to the thread. I remember reading this. As soon as I get my credit from Amazon I will give these 20 watt Cree a try and post my results. My goals is purely asethetic to get rid of the warm, yellow halo color with mixed with the cool, blue general headlight Xenon color.
