2015 Z4 Announced

2015 BMW Z4

There are three 2015 BMW Z4 configurations. The Z4 sDrive28i, Z4 sDrive35i, and Z4 sDrive35is cover all the bases, from Grand Touring to Sports Car. The Z4 sDrive28i gets it started with a 240-hp TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder. From just 2.0 liters of displacement, this efficient, direct-injected engine packs a wallop of 260 lb/ft of torque. Even better, advanced technology like Valvetronic and Double VANOS team up with the turbocharger and direct fuel injection to deliver peak torque from just 1,450 rpm.

A six-speed manual transmission is standard testimony to the status of the Z4 as a driver’s car, and an eight-speed Sport automatic transmission is also available for those who prefer. The lightweight and strong chassis is joined by a front suspension created from aluminum to maintain superb balance and a sophisticated multi-link rear suspension with cast aluminum upper links. Aluminum also forms the hood, further reducing weight.

Attention to efficiency means that the 2015 BMW Z4 maximizes the enjoyment you’ll get from every drop of fuel, too. There’s standard Brake Energy Regeneration, which converts energy normally lost as heat during braking into electricity. Auto Start-Stop is paired with the six-speed manual transmission, and it shuts down the engine to avoid pointless idling.

The 2015 BMW Z4 sDrive28i rolls on standard 17-inch Star Spoke alloy wheels, and standard Xenon Adaptive Headlamps with LED headlamp rings light the way. The roof is a retractable hardtop, that emphasizes superior sound, excellent thermal insulation and large glass areas. A heated glass rear window is standard, and the side mirrors are also heated.

In the cabin of the Z4 you’ll find a pair of eight-way power-adjustable seats with four-way lumbar, dressed in durable black SensaTec upholstery. Brushed aluminum accents add splashes of brightwork, and other standard features include automatic climate control, Comfort Access keyless entry, self-dimming mirrors, rain-sensing windshield wipers and automatic headlamps. A three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel carries controls for the audio system, cruise control and standard Bluetooth® hands-free system.

The 2015 BMW Z4 sDrive35i tilts the balance toward the sports-car side of the scale with a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder. It delivers 300 hp and 300 lb/ft of torque and is paired with a seven-speed double-clutch transmission – a bit of racing technology handed down to the street. A leather sport steering wheel with paddle shifters comes with the double-clutch transmission, as well. Ten-way power-adjustable Sport seats with Kansas leather upholstery feature two memory presets for the driver’s seat and exterior mirror settings. Dynamic Cruise Control is standard, too, along with a soft-close automatic trunk lid and a handy pass-through loading system from the trunk that includes a built-in transport bag.

BMW unleashes the beast within with the 2015 BMW Z4 sDrive35is. This is the top dog, with a 335-hp version of the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder that can increase its 332 lb/ft of torque to a burly 369 lb/ft with a temporary overboost function. Backing up the super-powered six is the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission with steering wheel mounted shift paddles. The standard Adaptive M Suspension keeps firm control over the dampers with a central control unit that takes in data from three acceleration sensors, and the result is superb control without any loss of comfort.

BMW offers a wide array of packages and options for customizing the Z4 to your tastes. The Technology Package adds navigation with real-time traffic information, voice command, BMW Online and BMW Apps, , smartphone integration via Enhanced USB and Bluetooth, and remote services. The Cold Weather Package gives you a heated steering wheel and front seats, plus retractable headlamp washers. The most striking Z4 package has to be the Hyper Orange Package. It includes metal weave interior trim and an Alcantara/leather interior in black and orange. An Ivory White/Burth Sienna Package is new for 2015 and adds an ahthracite headliner, sport seats, fineline brown wood trim and Ivory White and Black Nappa leather. Other options include Park Distance Control, Automatic High Beams, 19-inch double-spoke alloy wheels (on select models), Concierge services, heated front seats, and SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

The BMW Z4 is a rare breed – a classical sports car updated to play in today’s modern world. Beautiful proportions and thrilling performance are standard, and BMW underscores it all with industry-leading technology and sumptuous luxury. It’s never been a better time to be a sports car driver, and there’s never been a better sports car.

I think brown is one of the new colors. Also, no MT for the 35i anymore.
