Thumbs up Flash tune for 28i !!!

If anyone saw the featured post on BR-Performance being able to flash tune the new ECU's and was curious, I can confirm this is 100% true!

Just got my ECU back from them after being flashed and the car is a complete monster.

Overall turnaround time was extremely fast. I pulled the ECU and shipped it to them on Tuesday, it arrived in Belgium on Friday was flashed and shipped back to me the following Monday; so just about 1 week total (which wasn't a big deal since the car has been sitting most of the winter anyway).

These guys also have excellent customer service answering all my questions promptly and making sure they had all the necessary detail to flash the ECU exactly how I wanted (tune is only active in Sport or Sport+ modes).

I was only able to take the car out for a short test drive today, but will have the car on the race track for testing before the season starts at the end of March after which I'll provide a more detailed analysis of the tunes performance. For now all I can say is it felt much stronger than the Stage2 JB4 I had in previously and power delivery is much smoother with the flash than with the JB4.

Here's a picture from their website with the Stage1 tune details (not my car).

yup. check their website, but i'm pretty sure they have flash tunes available for all cars with the N20 engine.

Congrats!
What made you go with stage1 versus stage2/stage3?
Weren't the JB4 numbers similar to stage1 or far off?

I have the same engine and my piggyback tune Racechip claims a max off 300hp/310tq as well. But wow you have a stage3 available BR-P only has up to stage2 for X3 28i

Mine isn't really a Stage 1, BR did a slightly modified tune for me. I use the car to compete in NASA Time Trials which has a weight to HP cap and a system of modification points for classing. So had to keep the HP in the 290-300 range and not able to change FMIC for Stage3.

Also, wrt the JB4 - I had it installed on the car but power delivery was too erratic on the race track and TT classification points didn't make sense for the piggy back units.

How much did the BR-P put on your car now HP/TQ?
How smoother is it ? Finally a real tuned car huh?

I still have to get the car on the dyno to get final numbers, but planning on doing that next week. The power delivery is MUCH smoother than the JB4 with the additional boost ramping up evenly rather than coming on all at once. Honestly, the JB4 was pretty much undrivable on the track. Looking at logs, AFR is also much more stable now even compared to stock.

Great this is exactly what I wanted to know.
I think I will go with Stage 2 if the price is right as it looks adding a downpipe is the main upgrade.
Look forward to your dyno

I have a catless downpipe and full custom exhaust installed (which they took into account when doing my tune) which is why I said it really isn't a Stage 1.

It's definitely stage2 then, since the downpipe + full custom exhaust will add into HP/TQ so you're prob at the 310hp/330tq at least my guess

bench tune right? (not through OBDII port)

Also, thoughts on how the car will do when it has to be programmed by the dealer?

Yup, its a bench tune. DME has to be opened to be flashed in boot mode. My car will never see the inside of a dealer, but if it were reprogrammed by dealer the tune would be lost.

From what I read on BR-P FAQ if that happens they will do it for free (5yr warranty) correct?
