thanks for the video. Very informative and gives a great comparison with the ESS tune.

Basically stage 1 ESS tune is similar output to 35is tune from factory. Imagine the 390HP tune + FBO!

Yes, given that the M135i was running as it should, the video confirms that the 35i with ESS stage 1 performs similar to a 35is.

I am still not sure if the 35is makes 340hp at all times, or only when overboost is NOT activated. ESS stg 1 gives +15hp and +30nm over the 35is when running without overboost... On the other hand, the 35is produces +20nm over ESS stg 1 when running with overboost.

According to fastestlaps.com the 35is and M135i are more or less equally fast below 100mph. Above 100mph the Z4 pulls ahead, probably due to better aerodynamics and slightly higher peak hp.

This is also what the video shows... that the Z4 ESS stg 1 is faster than the M135i at higher speeds, whereas at lower speeds the gearing/driver becomes the deciding factor (the 8AT and lower weight of the M135i makes it very fast at normal road speeds).

very nice!

That's what I call a good "vs." video.

Thanks a lot!
