Service reminders

I am new to the BMW family of cars and I don't think I understand the service reminders that my 2011 Z4 is showing me.

When I start the car I see the car up on a lift with 70 miles and 07/2018 under it. I thought this meant that there was service due in this many miles or at this date.

I also thought that then you could go through the service reminders on the car to see what is due at this time.

Apparently I am mistaken.

When I scroll through I see the following:

Front Bakes due in 43000 miles
Brake fluid due at 12/2017
Rear brakes due in 14000 miles
Oil change due in 9000 miles or 12/2017

None of these items appear to be due in 70 miles.

Will someone please enlighten me please.

The car currently has about 55,000 miles on it.

I went through the same thing when my wife got her 2013 a couple of years ago with 19k miles on it. It's really a poor system and I have no answer as to why your dash reads as it does with the other parameters you list. What I did was pay a visit to my dealer and had him read the key fob, which links to the entire service history of the car (as performed by BMW dealers). Basically, BMW recommends an oil change service once a year, but mileage factors into that somehow and that parameter has shifted from 10 to 15k over the years. Right now, while our car is still under warranty) I am simply going by the dash readout and my records of when they did the last service in the hope of trying to squeeze one more free service out of them before the warranty expires in January. Sorry I can't be more help, but I do suggest you establish a relationship with a decent service advisor as they can be helpful in these situations. BMW needs to make the ownership/maintenance experience far less mysterious. And rediscover the f$^%&$g dipstick!

Ya, it's a lousy sys, I don't even put much weight on it unless it's an immediate warning/in red, etc. I just go by my personal records.
