Atacama Yellow Z4 arrived
... well after looking around for a while I think I was in the right place at the right time. Well, not exactly in the right place but maybe looking in the right place. The car was in southern Texas and I was in Virginia. This is a 2011 35i - I wanted a citrus package car in stick, and most of them seem to be 35is with the automatic. Mind you the automatic is beautifully executed, but I enjoy driving the manual.
The car arrived with nary a nick, ding or scratch - unbelievable for what is about a 5-year-old car. It looks like it was driven by a 120 lb lady. Almost no evidence of use. The car is stock, aside from new-ish Michelin Pilot Sports, tint, clear bra, and factory BMW rubber mats. So now begins the slow series of upgrades. In the picture below, the antenna replaced as the start. A bunch of parts are slowly making their way courtesy of UPS, and thankfully some help from members on this board is helping shake out what to tackle. Filippo |

Fantastic! When I was on the hunt for mine, there was a yellow one in Central Canada that was calling to me... my wife thought me nuts, but I love color in a car...
The seller wasn't interested in even discussing a long distance deal, so that was that. I ended up with black... go figure. Mine is a stick as well. Great choice. |

Options ... good question. I've not been able to look up the definitive option codes. The car has heated seats (and wheel), I suspect the stock stereo (how would I tell if different?), clearly Msport but likely not adaptive-M (how would I know?).
I paid $28k for the car - in this condition that was a steal in my opinion, unabused with clear bra and fresh Michelin Pilot Sports (non run flats). Filippo |

Sounds like you have Cold Weather package (if you also have the headlight washer hidden in the bumper right in front of the headlights). Based on your fascia, you have M-Sport.
Someone on Bimmerfest suggested using this site for free BMW VIN lookup. I haven't tried it myself. http://www.rubmw.ru/vincode/eng/

That site gave me nothing. I had to register too ... anti-climactic :-( ... I found it early in the day from some other forum. Yes it has cold weather. I ordered the BavSound stage 1 kit just to help the sound a bit - with the $100 it was a good deal. The fact that bluetooth doesn't stream audio is nutso, bought I bought a little rig to try and run BT through the aux so we'll see how that works.

Thanks. Here it is. I take it this is a run-of-the-mill citrus package order, minus iDrive and automatic? I guess what I'm saying - I'm curious beyond Citrus Package, Msport Package, and Cold Weather package ... is there any other options that got checked off?

Beautiful car! We need some shots of the interior! Sounds like a really good price. (How many miles on the clock if I may ask)
So you bought sight unseen, just pictures and had it delivered? If so must have been a real rush when it got to your place. (Or did you fly down and drive it back?) |

22k miles. I bought it on pictures and a walk-around. Reputable dealer. Driver seat doesn't even look like it was sat in, down to lack of any scuffs on the bolster. I almost feel bad getting in it ...
My 16-year-old son with a learners permit spent an hour driving me around country roads in the car today. He approves of the car so he tells me ... lol ... beats the 1972 Toyota Corona I cut my teeth on! Filippo |

Great choice, congratulation.
I realy like the interiour. To my opinion one of the best you can get into the Z4. Enjoy your ride.

So probably my 3rd drive out with the car. Hit the local bicycle shop w/coffee shop inside to do an hour of work late morning. Get in the car and come home. When I get out I see this:
It was a sparsely parked parking lot at 11am in the morning. How do you hit a yellow car parking or pulling out? And not know it?! The amount of black paint swapped, it wasn't a minor touch either. I was livid. Best of all, the car had a clear bra installed. Guess what, after about 30 minutes of peeling off some of the bra and cleaning glue: So it looks like I need to take it to a shop, have the rest of the clear bra removed, and new bra installed. Well .... 2nd time is a charm? Come out this evening and someone decided to back into my car. This time it was for keeps and no clear bra was going to stop it. I got 250 miles of driving in this incredibly pristine example before someone punched the front end.

Damn - I thought the bird poop that would not come off on my drive home (1500 miles later and paint bubbled) was bad.
Time to start parking farther away. Idiots are everywhere and just don't care.... |

I am starting to wonder ... yes I know it is yellow and should be easy to see ... but is the car so low that people don't see it in their mirrors? This guy backed into the car. The first hit, the week before, I don't know what happened. This has me irked - I don't live in the city, rather the country, and this is happening.
