Interior Trim

Has anyone had their interior trim painted in the exterior body color? If so, could you kindly post some pictures? I'm getting a Deep Sea Blue with Ivory White Z4 soon and I was thinking of taking out the Anthracite Wood trim and having it painted in body color. Opinions?

Thanks in advance!

You mean like a Porsche? Where they paint the transmission tunnel and door panels? I think it won't look good on DSB and Ivory, maybe only the yellow version might look good, you need it to be something a little crazy looking. DSB is too "clean" of a combo to look good with blue bits inside.

I suggest you brush on your PhotoShop skills.. Take a clear photo of your interior, change your trim color into the DSB of your exterior and see how you like it... Emmm... Not my favorite certainly....

Thanks for the feedback guys, Land Shark, i took your advice and did it in photoshop (attached), and honestly i kind of like it. The key is to find someone that can make the trim have the same finish as the paint, just like Memphis 1 said about Porsche. Does anyone know of any aftermarket companies that provide such a service?

It would certainly be unique! Good luck with your decision.

Any reputable local auto body shop can paint them for you. Just have them apply a couple coats of good automotive epoxy based clear top coat to maintain the finish. If you remove/install them youself, I'd guesstimate about $300-$400 for a top notch dust free job. Cheers!

I would get a set of the aluminum trim pieces (or the base silver matte) and paint them. It might be easier than painting over the "plastic" coasting over the wood. Plus you'd still have the originals if it doesn't turn out.

+1

That's a good idea and pretty much the same idea others use when they change their front grills to full black

Turned out not bad at all... Definetly a unique one...

You should be able to find a good paintshop, if you use the existent ones, you won't be able to go back to your originals (keep that in mind)
Good Luck and keep us updated...

You should be able to get the five satin silver tirm pieces for about $1000 + paint. So it will a be reasonably cheap customizing job. Post some pics when your done.
