Red face What was your highest Speeding Ticket ever?

Some idea as to what the highest speeding ticket might be if you ever venture into those countries (my last one was in my M3 in Alberta Canada $365.00 that was some 4 years ago)

Click here for some interesting details

My experience won't qualify for the most expensive or the fastest ticket, but it might make the list for one of the most unusual. In 1959, when I was 17, I owned an new Plymouth Sport Fury set up similarly to the racing Chrysler 300's of the day(it would top out@ 145 mph). While making a run to see my girlfriend(what else) I blew by a stationary radar @ 95 mph(I didn't see it). The State Troopers didn't give chase since I would be crossing over into another state before they could catch me. A couple of hours later on the way back I was running full throttle downhill with a tailwind and passed the black box again (still not seeing it). Ten miles later while slowing for a small town I looked in the rear view and saw the red lights. The trooper stopped behind me with smoke fuming from the engine compartment and coolant spewing on the ground(58 Chev with 348 Cu in Tri power). After the obligatory ass chewing he issued me 2 tickets one for 95 mph and one for 100 mph(the old radar maxed out @ 100). The total cost of the tickets was $72.00.

$389....142km in my wife's Benz going down the 416 back from Ottawa. Cost me 3 points in addition to the ticket and a whopping 200% increase in my insurance.

Needless to say, I've been "speed free" for 2 1/2 years (until my record has been exponged!)

Funny you should mention 1959 it was a good year I was 21 then it was my second year in Canada. It was also the first time I ever owned a car. The car was 1952 Oldsmobile Super 88. It had four-barrel carburetor which helped boost torque to nearly 290. Anyway, one day I came back from the the Laurentians (north of Montreal up here in Canada) also after spending a night with my then Girlfriend ... I must have still been dreaming since I went thru a red light (there was a left turn green arrow that I mistook for a green). As luck would have it a police car was sitting right at the light when I went thru. Needless to say he came after me. I ended up in his car and he gave me a talking too as to what would happen to me etc. In those days the cops took your money and it ended up he helped himself to all my fortune I had at the time I think it was all of $60.00 then he let me go. Oh the memories

I've never got a speeding ticket for much over the limit but I've been with a buddy and had to talk our way out of mandatory court appearances a few times for going Waaaay over the limit. I think we got them down to $75 (35 years ago)

funny thing is , I once got a warning ticket In Montana when they had NO speed limit. I was only doing 65mph but the cop stared at me and I touched my brakes and stared back....."Why did you put your brakes on?" he asked, "because you were staring at me. it's a natural reaction".

I was stopped doing exactly 100mph back in 2000 and was fined £350 plus £250 court costs. 6 points on the license added another £100 to my insurance for the next 5 years as well! the only bit of luck I had was if I'd been doing 101mph I'd have been banned for a month or 2 as well.

BUT, check this story out... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/8446545.stm

$290,000 fine, now that's what I call a fine!

By my calculation that's almost a $1,000 US. How fast were you going?

I don 't know if it 's a "in-topic" ticket but.....218km/h in Italy: 3500 euro ticket and driving licence suspended for 6 months.
but that speed camera was illegal and in Italy police must warn you of a mobile speed camera at least 500 meters before(as they must prevent accidents, not earn money with that stuff).....and they had to throw away the ticket.

I consistently exceed the legal speed limit, but have not gotten a speeding ticket in 14 years.

I was 17 y/o driving a Benz that mommy and daddy had paid for. Had my gf at the time in the front seat.

Nailed doing 84km/h over the limit (~51mph). $1100 fine and 1 month license suspension.
