99% of the time it's counterproductive to close apps (uses more power to quit it than to leave it as is). The only exception to this I can think of is nav apps when you haven't yet reached your destination.

Screen shots you can accomplish with buttons on the phone, which is faster than any 2 click interactions on screen.
I always found it awkward to reach around the phone to touch 2 buttons to take a screen shot. Now I can just double tap with one hand to do it. Not sure when they changed it to the volume up and screen lock button which is easier than before, I'm going from a 6s+ to the X.
Where are these settings?

Absolutely no reason to burn in an artificial home button when not having one is a superior experience.
Yup. I was somewhat skeptical at first but now it's like second nature to me. My lasting complaint is that I miss landscape mode, but I guess I'll have to wait for the X Plus for that.

I was playing with my old phone this morning and kept trying to swipe up. I don't miss the home button at all.

No one who owns an X would miss a home button.

Any honest opinions after a month of usage?

I honestly have one gripe and that is FACE id, its not perfect... actually not even close.
In addition, it again already seems a bit stuttery at times or not as fluid as it should be.

Had it for a month... love it. Forgotten about the home button.

Face ID is reasonably good... sunglasses, night time.. etc. etc.

I've been contemplating on getting it and when. I messed with the 8 and X. I like the 8 cuz the home button and I'm used to the design. I guess I need to get used to the X. Also thinking of waiting for 2nd gen X's to come out. Maybe they'll fix the face recognition and other kinks

Best phone I’ve ever used. FaceID virtually flawless for me. Only work FaceID needs is working in different orientations like lying down.

A home button is trash after owning the X. Hate having one on my iPad Pro.

I find FaceID kind of frustrating. It's VERY Beta.

I would take a fingerprint reader on the back of the phone over it any day.

I'm completely 180° from you. My Face ID works perfectly 100% of the time, even if I try to trick it with funny glasses or fake reindeer noses.
My fingerprints would work for 1-2weeks then just become frustrating and picky and I'd end up having to put in my password.

You're lucky it works for you. I'm not the only one that's having issues. I'm sure it'll improve in the future.

Another irritation is not being able to archive/delete emails from the lockscreen when the phone is sitting on my desk. Having to pick up the phone and look at it first is a massive step backwards.

And this nonsense of downloading apps. Press Get, and then you still have to double tap the lock button to confirm. They need to get rid of this.

I agree 100%, its the shittiest part of the phone... if they had a different form of authentication it would be perfect.

It seems to be the worst when moving from indoors to outdoors, or when you're looking down at the phone outdoors. Seems the UV rays interfere with FaceID and make it hit or miss. Instead you need to point the phone straight out in front of you and look like a weirdo

And then you get hit with an even more frustrating problem of waiting for it to give up and display the passcode screen.

When FaceID fails, you're looking at a good 5 seconds before getting to your lockscreen

I was certain that since I opened my big yap about it always recognizing me, I'd have my first fail. It's been another flawless day, inside, outside and in the dark and even reindeer nose. I'm either very lucky or doing something wrong.

Yeah, mines been pretty flawless. Only real hang up is when I try to unlock it while actively drinking something (hand/cup in front of face).
