Teaser of some new upgrades for '17

So its winter time and everyone up north is kind of on a car modding hiatus, except for me. I've been researching which mods, small and large, to tackle for the year. After deliberating for months and asking friends for some advice I narrowed it down to some aesthetic and one big performance mod for the year.

So here is a teaser of one of the aesthetic mods, and a really lazy photoshop mockup, lets see if you guys can spot the new mods...

btw the spoiler isn't mounted yet, its just placed on top as a test. IMO it fits pretty flawlessly. I'm super stoked I'll be one of the only, if not THE only one with this spoiler in the states...as far as my google/ IG searches show...

Comments and suggestions welcome!

Yes, real CF. Quality is very good. Clean clear coat, no scratches or sloppy cf placement.

I'll have some pics once its mounted. I'm scheduled for 2/20th week to drop off.

Here is a link for the spoiler..

My estimated delivery was 2/15-2/27 but it actually came in about a week.

Update Part 1

Hi All,

So I just picked up the car from the shop earlier today and I have to say that I am very very very pleased with the parts. I tried to take shots at different angles so you guys can really see how well the trunk spoiler fits. The diffuser also fits great, I didn't have to paint the bottom black, as some people have experienced with their versions.

Anyways here is a list of the mods for part 1 :
shaved "sdrive 35is" logos
gloss black side markers
trunk spoiler, link in the earlier post.
Ikon diffuser
BMW Performance gloss black grilles, I originally has 3rd party flat black.

Enjoy the pics and let me know if you have any questions.

I'll have some teaser pics of PART 2 on Monday, hopefully. Hopefully PART 3 soon after...

The spoiler looks great on your blue Z, always enjoy seeing updates of your car!

I ordered the spoiler after you first posted about it, put it on last weekend, turned out well. At first, I was wondering if it looks a little small, like maybe it should be wider and go further towards the left and right edges of the trunk. But now after a few days, I think it fits it well.

I can also vouch for the shipping from China. It arrived in a solid block of styrofoam about a week and a half after ordering. No damage and the carbon fiber and clear coat are free of any defects.

Steve, I'm happy that you also had a great product! I know what you mean about the dimensions. But I think we both are in agreement that it suits our car very well. It doesn't go end to end, but it does accentuate the natural body lines .

I think that makes us the 1st 2 this side of the states with this!

PART 2

As promised here is a teaser of part 2...BBK. I know some/ most of you may not be a fan of the color my deep sea blue, but I felt the color pop would look good since my car is pretty much dark blue/ carbon fiber with a touch of silver. Red, gold, and yellow were just to boring for me. Brembo is doing a bright lime green for many new high end products so it can't be too bad/

I also plan to do custom logo details. Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks,
Jake

another teaser...part 2

Thanks for the kind words fellas...

So I'm one step closer. Here is another teaser.

What do you guys think of the decals that I made? I had the done with VIPvinlyworks aka strictlyGz. After email a few people they were the first to reply and answered all my questions. Other vendors were nice as well but after looking at their IG I had more confidence in their work. Other vendors only show you the decal image, not of it applied.

Oh and just to give you an idea of how stupid big these are...here is a pic of the tech drawing in ACTUAL size compared to a $20...

Another teaser installment

Here's a teaser of my refinished Forgestar F14's.

We're calling it Satin Hyper Bronze. The videos and photos really don't do it justice. it looks much more dark bronze in person with strong highlights. The camera intensifies the highlights. It literally has the luster of hyper silver but in bronze. Lots of subtle brown hues depending on which angle you look at it, and where the light source is...

I think these will look great against the Deep Sea Blue, and pop the bbk even more.

What do you guys think?

Update Part 2/3 Complete!!!

So after months of planning I finally completed part 1,2, and 3 for my Spring17 mods. I know some my choices may not be for everyone, but I personally could not be happier.

So on with the review.

PB BRAKES:
The good:

Great high quality product. The fit and finish was spectacular with great attention to detail, for example the coating used on the steel braided brake lines are top notch. It was an extra step that didn't need to be done.

I am very happy with the color, especially against the Satin Hyper Bronze.

Dan from PB was fantastic to work with. Quick replies to all my questions, and fast shipping. The kit came in 3, well packed boxes. The quality boxes, the instructions were all top notch.

The bad: The e89 is more the culprit here rather than the brake kit. The e-brake install was very difficult due to very tight space, and interference with lines. One bad for PB would be that they should have labeled the brake motors, and brackets for each side. There was only a product #, but now way to know which side the component for. This ate up a lot of time due to test fitting, and redoing.

Overall: I love the look, and they feel great. While the brakes have been bedded I still want to ease into pushing them hard. I would definitely recommend.

BRAKE DECAL: David at VIPvinlyworks aka StrictlyGZ was great to work with. I paid $40 for 8 decals. They were great quality and easy to apply.

WHEELS:
I was originally planning on selling all my wheels to pickup a set of Work CR2P w/ stepped lips, but unfortunately 2 of my winter wheels cracked and I had no choice but to keep my current summer wheels.

Since I had to keep my wheels I decided refinish and update. Since I was going with a lime brake caliper I wanted to have a dark finish, with some POP to bring out the Forgestar design. I worked with WheelFixit to come up with a custom color, which we're calling Satin Hyper Bronze. Its really amazing in person. So many different shades and tones depending on lighting, and angle you look at it. I think it pairs nicely with Deep Sea Blue which has the same character. And then you get the lime pop from the brakes, it all just comes together.

Anyways enjoy the pics of my dirty car and wheels. I'll hope to take some better pics once we get through this crappy NY weather.

Oh last thing.

My stock35is brakes are up for FREE. They just need new pads for front, and refinished rotors. Rears were just replaced under warranty a few months ago. Local pickup preferred.

I also want to sell my winter wheels which would be 2 fronts w/ tires. 2 semi new rear wheels, no tires in M3 fitment. 4 tpms, 1 rear wheel w/ tire. All for $400 obo. Local pickup preferred.

Yep. I spoke to a few friends that auto-x , high performance driving events, and drag race and the overall consensus was that drilled brakes are prone to crack under high stress situations.

After I learned that I did some further research on youtube. These videos are very informative.

This one kind of sealed the deal, as you look at there line only the entry level are drilled. Moving up you only see slotted.

I plan on auto-x and HPDE this year so I played it safe. Plus doing data logs where I'm going 120mph and then standing on the brakes, x3 logs. I didn't want to risk it.
