Can someone recommend a quality and accurate tire pressure gauge. If so, what is the cost and where can I purchase .

no tech to back it up but anecdotally I've heard that the dial type gauges with a bleeder button is the most accurate

This one is also good. You can find it for around $15. Good luck.

I've got the one Herr K showed. I don't want to find mine in the glove compartment with a dead battery.

Curious, does anyone know/used/have a friend who has etc this one? Wondering if it's as good as the reviewers say or just overpriced.

I don't understand the obsession with accuracy. Especially since changing from RF to Non RF, the accuracy of the nominal value itself is in question. Hoe much difference does .5 lbs one way or another really make. Is the objective here better handling, longer tire live or is a Rolex vs a Timex sort of thing ?

For what it is worth, as a quick test I tried:

cheapo analog gauge (stick) vs. cheapo digital gauge http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0042F5Z8G vs. the built in analog dial gauge of my air compressor http://www.amazon.com/Campbell-Hausf.../dp/B000642GAM

and found that the air compressor gauge was a few PSI higher than the other two, but the stick and digital gauges were within 1 PSI of each other (the limiting factor being the low precision of the stick gauge)

In reality, I just use the air compressor now that I roughly know how to set the auto shut off and keep one of the gauges in the car "just in case" I need to use a public tire inflator

EDIT: @E89Tardis you know what is really funny, just as you said Rolex vs. Timex I laughed out loud because the answer is NEITHER.. the most accurate is the Gshock that sets itself using the atomic clock I'm not kidding myself that the other watches are more than just shiny bracelets

I use this one:

It is convenient and accurate.

For auto tires, you want full-scale of no more than 60psi. Accuracy is usually quoted as % of full-scale. So +/- 2% FS for a 0-100psi gauge is +/- 2psi (4psi wide error band). Same accuracy on a 0-60psi gauge is +/- 1.2psi (less than 2-1/2psi error band). Motorcycle and bicycle tires require the higher psi gauges.
