Hey guys,

has anybody been able to get this product working on their Z4 yet? I received a STE93 v1.3 module and some installation instructions for an E88 1 series coupe, with no reference to my E89 Z4. I visited the module website (www.mods4cars.com) and was shocked to find that the module designed for the Z4 is actually the STLFBW1. The Z4 is not listed as supported for the STE93.

I was advised by Tom that the unit would in fact work, so I installed it and the diagnostic lights blinked, meaning the unit was correctly installed. However I have not been able to enable the unit after multiple attempts, so I'm wondering how everybody else went with their installations?

What am I doing wrong?
Cheers!

Modules are the same, there is a chance you do not have the newest firmware installed. Using a laptop and USB connection - the module can be updated while installed in the vehicle. More info can be found at this link: http://www.wit-usa.com/sms/db/smartt...ort/usb/en.php

Let me know if you should have any further questions.

Just thought I'd inform everybody that it works like a dream, and that Tom was very prompt with his help. I no longer have to worry about stalling traffic each time I use the roof!

I installed my SmartTop and had same issues with unit label that parnassus did. I got the steady light (install connection problem) - double and tripple checked all connections and even ran the software update to the unit and saw it was current with version 1.4. Bad news is if the install goes bad you're stuck with your hardtop in the middle. Weekend was not a good time to install because got the recorder on Tom's CA line 714 369-8524. So the Z4 is stuck in the garage till I can determine if this unit will ever work.

Can you PM or email me pictures of your connections so I can verify?

Also, has the module been updated? There was a significant update released a short while ago for Z4 models.
