Help Blower motor regulator (Also known as a final stage unit) replacement

I have a fan speed issue with my E89. I have ordered a new Blower Motor regulator, based on my prior experience with my E46 FSR, and the following from the web

"If your BMW's interior fan speed is not controllable, or simply does not work, it is likely because of a faulty blower motor resistor. Also referred to as a final stage unit or blower motor resistor, this is a common failure item and is likely the cause for HVAC blower motor issues. We recommend replacing this component first before faulting an expensive blower motor."

Has anyone done this and is it in a similar location to my E46. They are different parts but perform the same function.

Thanks in advance.

AC is working, feel the cool air, just no flow. Fan works about 1 sec out of 30 and in short duration spurts.
