Evolution Racewerks Charge Pipe fitment problem

I am having an issue with an ER Charge Pipe that I recently purchased. I tried to install it and it was about 1 inch short from fitting properly. I contacted ER and they said that they would make me another one because maybe it was not made on the correct jig. I agreed and recently received the new Charge Pipe and I have the same problem. I have to believe that there are other Z4 owner that have their Charge Pipe.

Did you experience these same issues.

I am running an HPF intercooler and it uses the stock connection so there should not be an issue since my OEM CP fit perfectly.

Any ideas?

I had the same problem. What was done to fix it was simple. They just used a longer coupler. You can go to any performance shop or order them online.

Supercarfreak and Italy3541. What brand Intercoolers are you running? It is strange to me that the ER CP on some Z4's fit perfectly and on others it doesn't.

I still have the factory IC. I figured because mine is a 2014 there might have been some small changes and that's why it didn't fit properly. According to BMW of Towson there are some things that are different with the piping on 2014+ models that's why the Dinan IC only fits with some modification to the brackets and piping.

Thanks. That is strange because I have a 2009 Z4 and I am having the same problem. ER is working with me on a solution and I am sure that they will fix the problem but I was just curious if any other Z4 owners have experienced the same issue.

I have heard of a few others having this problem when I was at the dealership. A few people sent theirs back and went with another brand according to the dealer I think it was Stett they said others went with. I honestly think it has something to do with the assembly of the cars. Being that it is only about 1" it is off by, it may just be when the car was put together the pipes got pushed further into the connections during the assembly resulting in the longer distance.

I have the ER charge pipe and ER intercooler. Did the install myself. My recollection is that the inlet pipe on the ER intercooler extends further back toward the charge pipe than the OEM intercooler. I was concerned it wouldn't reach, but it did. I do specifically recall wondering how anyone would use either the ER charge pipe with the OEM intercooler or the OEM charge pipe with the ER intercooler.

Good to know. This is my problem because my HFP intercooler uses the OEM connection.
