Turntables, LP , record players

Anyone into these?
I started by buying this Pro-ject RPM Genie 1.3 . So far I've collected the following records:
Pink Floyd : wish you were here
King Crimson: 3 of a perfect pair, discipline
Miles Davis : blues I think
Chuck Mangione: collections I think
Tool, Joni Mitchell, Muse, Santana, beegees, beach boys,

Just wanted to know if there are any other record enthusiasts here

Litos, my fellow music connoisseur knows what's up.

However, I soold my ones and two's for the Ableton Push. I haven't even opened it yet, but it's pretty much the answer to my prayers. It can be used simliar to turntables and more!

No problem, from the website: Push is a new instrument that solves an old problem: how to make a song from scratch. With hands-on control of melody and harmony, beats, sounds, and song structure, Push puts the fundamental elements of music making at your fingertips - and it fits in a backpack alongside your laptop.

https://www.ableton.com/en/push/

To summarize, it is a software controller that works exclusively with Ableton Live. It allows me to play my beats/songs live and make real time fx changes. I can also create music from scratch.

This is the new Aviici, Skrillex, Tiesto, Afrojack, DJ Snake, etc... way of making/performing music.

I have my first show this summer at Low End Theory in DTLA. Got a 10 min set

Yes. I have a VPI HW19 Jr. with a MkIII platter upgrade. The tonearm is an Audioquest PT9 and the cartridge is a Sumiko Blue Point. I have to upgrade the cartridge as it's the old version 1.0. Looking to probably replace it with either a Sumiko Blue Point Special or something from Benz Micro. But want a high output moving coil cartridge as the Bryston BP25 preamp I have only has a moving magnet phono preamp.

I'm not Puerto Rican or Cuban HAHA !!!!

Reggaetone is the AIDS of the music world....

I'd much rather jam some DJ Quick "Born and Raised in Compton"...

or Ice Cube's "Steady Mobbin"...

or Geto Boys "Six Feet Deep"...

Smile

I have a Bang and Olufsen 1700 turntable, with a fairly recent new cartridge from Soundsmith, who manufactures them.

I've used it lately mostly to convert some of my most cherished LPs to audio files. Ones that are simply not available on CD.

The thing about LPs that always bugged me, and that keeps me uninterested in any available on CD, is noise. No matter how carefully you clean them, no matter how high quality your cartridge/needle, you're going to get some. Basically it's an inferior technology, which is why it pretty much died. When I convert my old LPs I can do some processing to improve things, the trick being to do as little as possible to make the sound the most listenable.

Even so, you have to convert realtime, you have to monitor things, it's a real time chewer.

For new/replacement purchases I prefer to buy a CD version, if available. Or purchase a download.

I have a Linn LP12 with most of the upgrades - Lingo PS, Cirkus suspension, Ekos tonearm with Linn Troika cartridge. I purchased the original set up in 1986 for about £1350. I moved to the US shortly after and have probably put another $2K into it.

Last record player I owned looked something like this... Was great for playing 45's in my room back when I was 10 years old!

This thread has Chris Rock's "Turn That Shit Off" written all over it... If you were really cool, you'd have an in-car turntable:
