245mm tires in front of the e89 (18 or 19")?

I'm having second thoughts about going 19". Plan was:
19x8.5 + 245/35r19 square.

Thinking 18" now, but I see conflicting information about whether 245/40r18 fits in the front of the e89?

Some people say you need to go 19" for the 245s to clear the strut and 18" 245s will not work. But occasionally somebody runs like that. If you do, what offset do you have?

i think it really have to do with the width of the rim and offset. im running 235mm with no problems on 8.5in et35.

Yeah. Correct me if I'm wrong but a 8.0 width 18" with 35mm offset would create more of a problem than a 8.5 wide 18" with 35mm offset, right?

If I want the 245s on 18" with 35mm offset I better get 8.5s if I understand that correctly?

That's too bad because it rules out the BBS SRs with are 18x8.

Actually the SR has 32mm offset, tirerack just has an incorrect warning message saying it is 35mm. Maybe I should just get it over with and try the 245s. If the front doesn't fit I can order some 235s and use the 245s in the rear after the first pair is gone. Can't take that long

I don't remember the exact offset but my buddy bought two pairs of E9x M3 rear wheels and ran 245 all around on his 2011 35is.

235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear is a "no issues" sizing.

If you went 245 front my understanding is you need to measure the offset and actually tire width

I'm afraid those aren't quite what I am looking for.

Really want to try a square setup.

Great for track day. Let me unload my 19" tires and I'll PM you.
If it all works out I'll make a trip to SD.

Mostly narrowed it down to O.Z. Ultraleggera in 18x8 (they don't have 18x8.5 but 18x9 in case I end up staggered).

Now, question

They comes in two offsets:
  • 18x8 +34mm
  • 18x8 +40mm

Which one gives me the better chance to get away with 245mm 18" in the front of the e89?

I poked around in the wheel arch with full locked steering. I think inside is probably more critical.

I guess going /35 instead of /40 is advised either way given this stunt?
