Making click sound when shifting??

For few months since i bought the car, i have noticed that the car makes loud click noise when i change to D or R from shift. Also when i park the car, it also makes this sound. It feels like the gear is not in place or lubricated. Anybody have this problem or is this normal?

This seems to be normal. I heard the same "clicking" across 3 different E89s.

with the 35i being totally fly by wire i cannot attest to it. However, the 3.0i has linkage that can need to be adjusted from time to time depending on wear.

I have the same sound on my 2015 z4 35i M Sport, did some research, it's very well known and there are tons of discussions about it, they say it's caused in dual mass flywheel and totally normal, but if the noise is bothering you can be fixed and they have details explanations.
