Looks like I'm leaving...don't hate

It looks like I may have found a new love this month. My son, who drives an '07 Mustang GT at the track, and I test drove a new 2015 Ford Mustang with Performance package (brembos, track oriented suspension, 19 inch staggered wheels) along with 435 hp and 400 lb ft of torque and I'm smitten.

I love my e89 and I loved my e85 but I can't resist this much car for $35k out the door.
Here is what I'm looking at:

You mentioned the word "track" and at 3814lb I have to wonder if that is the wrong expectation for the car?

How about getting a 2yr old Boss 302 for less money instead?

I said my son tracks an '07 GT. It's substantially lighter now that everything but a race seat and roll cage are in there.
This car will be my toy to throw around the back roads and a DE now and again.

The color is what got me. In person it can look gray, green, black. I've always loved space gray but this color has sure caught my eye.

Wait and get the GT350.

I will agree that the Mustang GT is a lot of car for the money. My only issue is that you see one at every stop light where I live. That is one of the reasons why I bought a Z4 because of the limited production.

Alternative is that you could throw about 5k in mods on you Z4 and watch the Mustang from your rear view.

I am sure that it is fun to drive.

Yes, that has probably been my biggest hurdle over the past month. I will miss the exclusivity of the Z4. There is only one other in my area that I've seen in 2+ years. I've driven the Mustang 4 times to try and help me decide. I've been BMW guy for years and have owned 8 but just like in '07 when we bought the first Mustang the fun factor and costs just can't be beat.
The wife still has her Bimmer so my CCA card won't be revoked. Haha!

Honestly, with 2 kids in college and 4 cars I can't afford the M4 but the Mustang with Performance package gets me close.

Hmmm, not a bad looking car considering that it's a domestic. Dunno too much about pony cars, seems like such a leap to 'cross shop' though.

American cars have been pretty impressive lately. I never imagined that I would ever say those words. The New Vette with Ferrari influenced suspension interests me a lot. If only they could get the comfort thing down

It's the other way around. Ferrari licenses the damper technology from GM

Agreed, Detroit has really upped its performance car game.

New mustang in seems like a great 4 series/A5 competitor, and Camaro SS 1LE also seems like it has some pretty solid handling.. 285 wide tires front and rear stock!

will be so interesting to see a comparison of C7 Z51, M3/M4 and GT350. Prices are right on top of each other and on paper the capabilities are in the same range as well.

Great time to be a car enthusiast

Here is what I'm looking at:
Beautiful car you are looking at. I just traded my 12 Mustang GT for a 14 Z4. I was having problems with the LCAs on the Mustang and had it at the dealer several times (known issue from Ford). The only thing about the Mustang is that they are so common and you truly don't get the BMW service (longer warranty and free maintenance). Mine was a blast to drive in a straight line but a little terrifying in corners. If you get it, enjoy! Mustangs are very fun cars.

There is an option to add it back for both the GT350 and GT350R

No need to let that get in your way!
