various warning lights
Tried to read the manual but confused by the similar warnings. Just wondering if you guys have experienced these:
1. the 'bulb' warning goes on but no lights have burnt: just electric gremlins? 2. not sure the difference between the other 2 warnings: can this wait for needs attn right away? Supposedly the middle warning is either brake light control fail or malfunctioning fuel supply (what??), but I haven't experienced either. Tx. |

The top one seems to be pretty straightforward failed bulb (check them all again?). The only time I had the second one was for a damaged brake sensor. could be that or some other brake (wear) issue. And the bottom one means you are closing in on your next service/oil change.

Brake sensors are the electronic gizmos at each caliper that warn you if you're pads need replacing. Apparently, they're subject to damage pretty easily.
Don't know about reprogramming the service interval, but I suppose it's possible. |

i had all three lights on before, but my problems might not be the same as yours..
1st one is my Day time running light burned out 2nd one is battery discharged, tells me to charge my battery. 3rd one is just service due.. not sure if you have idrive system or not, if you do, you can goto vehicle info screen, and check what the warning is about. |

I also see the second image (the car on the lift) whenever the battery gets low. Our Z4 is now nearly seven years old, is still on the original battery, and rarely gets used in the winter. Whenever we get the lift icon, we simply drive it for 30 minutes or so, and it disappears. For comparison, our Z4 still only has about 25k kms (about 15k miles) under its wheels. I've never had to get a battery charger / minder.

Ya, I'm still on my original batt also...wonder how much warning it'll ultimately give me or will I get stranded one day? When do you know that you MUST get a new one?

I would get the car on the lift icon as well, until I changed my battery. I figured it was going to have a problem eventually, as I could only sit in the car with the radio on, not running (turned to accessories) for only about 1 min. before the service lift icon came up or the battery icon. I decided not to chance it and got a Sears AGM DieHard battery for under $200. No more lift light unless I don't drive it for over a week. I haven't had BMW reprogram for the changed battery yet either.
