Same saddle, same jack, 1.5 Ton. Your jack is red, mine is blue. Probably mfg by the same shop in China. Your vendor sourced red, mine sourced blue. See post #5. I paid $69 on sale. I don't trust a lot of the stuff made in China, and try to avoid buying those items like the plague, but the price was right and it has paid for itself on E46 DIY's. Wanna trade? Red jack would match my Crimson red car. I know the E46's & E89 use the exact same jack point detail (51718268885). If you curb the car you may shear off the pin that mounts it to the body. Otherwise the jack points are pretty indestructable.

Now what am I gonna do w/ a blue jack? Doesn't match anything in my car either. At least the red jack matches my seats. Btw, I heard that the red adds an extra 1/2 ton capacity to the jack (much like white adds 20hps to our cars), so I'll be holding onto mine.

Hey guys, thx again for all your advice here and in my other thread. I finally changed my own tires! LOL. I was able to fully tighten to 85lbs/ft while jacked.

I was wondering if I should do any prepping, like spray lubricants, etc for next time?

I noticed that my 'hub ring'? looks like it's rusted? 1 of my wheels was hard to take off w/ my bare hands, even w/ all the lug bolts off - I had to kick the wheel a few times to dislodge it. Not sure if spraying stuff or another method would have been better than just kicking it and risking the jack becoming dislodged?

Clean off the rust from the outer diameter of the hub center ring. Apply a light coat of grease, to the OD of the center ring to prevent the "sticking" next time. I doubt that giving your tire a kick or two would dislodge it from the jack. Anyway that's why you use jack stands - sorry I couldn't resist.

Thanks. Ya, I'll have to clean it next time when I switch to the winters. Using stands is the most safe way but I don't want to bother w/ that extra step and figuring out where to put it w/o damaging the frame.

I'd like to highly recommend this tool. It's great: no huge air compressor to lug around, no guessing of the torque, no manual labor...I'm not sure how other ppl change tires but this is a great way - it ripped off and and attached those bolts w/ super-ease and w/ almost zero vibration. I double-checked my tightening w/ a torque wrench and all the lug bolts were done exactly right. Got it on sale at Can Tire for $99.

Is that orange thing in the inside of the hub ring actually rust?

So do I use steel wool to clean off the rust? I don't have to worry about the inside of the hub ring, just the outer diameter? I guess apply a very light coat of grease (is there a specific kind?) w/ my finger? Thx.

Damn! That's sweet, especially for $99.

Too bad I can't order online or get to a Canadian Tire without a 5-hour drive. Maybe I should sign up for sale alerts and make the trek next time there's a sale on.

I prefer to use a stiff wire brush or some coarse (60/120) grit sand paper on the OD of the hub. No you don't have to wory about rust on the ID other than for cosmetic purposes - you can clean it up if you like.

Moly based axle grease applied with your finger, Q-tip, old tooth brush, etc. Just try to make it a thin coat. Too heavy a layer will potentially spin out on to the rotor/caliper/brake pads - not a good thing
